I don't think people who drive a McLaren Mercedes really have to worry about work or employers, do they Paul?

But let's talk behind the collective 'Merican back a bit, eh. That gets 'em riled up good sometimes.....

It is strange to see the dichotomy between The land of the Free and some of the laws and practices that actually exist. For all the noise they make about the Bill Of Rights and Freedom etc. it is amazing to me to see the crapp they will take. Especially from corporations. Or that so many of them think they are the only country with a document outlining their rights.

The Canuckian gov is as incompetent and self-serving as any out there, but if we wave The Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms at them, we got 'em by the short-n-curlies. It is illegal to do random drug tests here..... down there you can't flip burgers without random testing. I can't imagine any company trying to tie your job to the method used to get to that job. I hear about things like Alex's problem here and it blows my mind.

And we are not even a real democracy. But then again, neither are they... but don't tell them, I don't think they know.... :shifty:

OK, I jacked this thread enough for now.....
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

I feel sorry that this goes into areas that aren't motorcycle orientated but I guess this has to do with freedom which is the basics of our biker lifestyle.

And so it goes...

Bearing in mind we are a young democracy and still have a lot to learn, but I find what I am reading to be almost party like. A deliberate suppresion of your right to travel however you want.

Would they do the same if you drove a McLaren Mercedes ?
America's founding fathers knew that the defense of freedom/ liberty started at the littlest things. People gave up on the government and didn't fight for the government to protect their rights as given by our Constitution. If we aren't ever diligent in our oversight of the government then everyone loses. Yes, SA is young but it must remember that the common person is the cornerstone of freedom and if he gives up or becomes complacent, the government will be directed by the who has the biggest stick. In the case of America, it became the kicking boy of Corperations and big money who only has the bottomline as its motivation.

The Obama revolution was about the common person taking back the government from those that would turn it into their playground. Democracy is supposed to be a classless society but in reality if so called Main Street doesn't keep it honest, no amount of laws are going to keep government from becoming the playground of the one who has the gold makes the rules.

We've had a government that didn't protect the common person from transgressions by certain groups. So instead of the government protecting us, it is up to the liitle guy to do for himself. I've gotten a rude awakening about this. That it was so blantant and the hospital's management felt empowered to act in such an illegal way, that I now realize that I was living in a false sense of security. I'll never let it happen to me again but to hear that so many found themselves as little people having to fight the empowered elite for their very survival shows that our complacency has cost a lot.

For in the end, I think I survived such as I did because they wanted me personally. If I hadn't had the right experience, reputation and skill set, I would have never had this discussion. I would never been considered for this job and it would have been given to some other person that was more accepting of the corperation. In the end, democracy isn't about government. It is about the little people banding together and making themselves heard.

The whole field of nursing is about this. Congress enacted a blatant hole in the immigration laws. There is a drastic shortage of nurses but instead of enacting programs to put American's through training and into those jobs, Congress said that it was okay to hire foreign nurses who may not have the quality of training or experience at less money basically trying to freeze out Americans from competing in their own country.

As far as the McLaren Mercedes, no, I wouldn't have the problem but not because of the law or the powers of the government. It would be because I was a better infighter and had better skills to fight in the corperate wars. That I had greater power politically and business wise to overcome my foes. That I would have a bigger stick to fight off my personal foes. Democracy has classes in a supposedly classless society. The moneyed (or other empowerment) Elite and everyone else. And the common man has to remember this and always fight for its rights. .

Also, I was thinking that the protections on freedoms are for the minority not to be ruled by the majority - and it seems to me very clear that the protections of the minority (motorcycling females) is quite clearly contravened here.

Do you have an actual document that says motorcycling is unladylike for management?

RhadamYgg
Yes that is the basis of the American way of life but somewhere along the line all that got sidetracked. As I said earlier, they basdically gave me a bogus contract that I could sign or get out. My lawer, not me, knew enough to call them on it and they folded. I find it frightening that they would do something so blatant and then expect me to just sign it. I've learned more in the last two days about goverment and law to scare me.

The biggest thing is that riding a motorcycle is LEGAL and they can't make it not so. However, it is food for thought that we are made to look more and more like the perpertrators not the victim. So the problem comes down to the point if they give you an agreement and even though it is illegal in the sense that it trys to restrict your freedom. If you sign it, the contract becomes legal and you can only fight it in civil court. So is this just the opening volley or is sanity somehow going to make a comeback?

Dunno... :frusty:
You know, you can sign all sorts of contracts, but, to me, you gave them something (your motorcycle riding to and from work) and you were not paid for this activity of value that you gave them.

Just don't sign any non-competes....

It's completely different where I work. The people I supervise have begged me to ride a Hayabusa. Late at night. But only after at least six drinks. During deer rutting season.

I hope that all is well for you and that you at least have peace and enjoy your work, it is vocational after all.

As for that McLaren

Your not getting my GS for it no matter how hard you beg, it would never survive African roads

Your a rightous dude!!

I spent a summer in SA and found I really liked the country and itts people. Though there seemed alot of tenesion between Whites, blacks and "colored". I hope all that cleared up by now.

Actually, I woud like to hear more about riding in SA. We're pretty evenly split here between Ameicans and Canadians. I know a bit about riding in Europe because I did it for a while and I still have a large number of Biker friends there. But I know nexr to nothing about SA. How about giving it a try. :clapping:

Your a little bloody late with that one. Been commando for years. I only started wearing pants last year to keep the cops from pulling me over every 3 blocks.

I don't know what MC you belong to, but if it is a "law-Abiding", (not say, the Nomads) one, then I have an idea that might turn the Hospital Mgmt around.

Have the MC sponsor a charity ride for the Trauma Center. Donate the cash to the center and I bet they might even put a plaque in the lobby thanking the MC. Who know's? they might want you to wear the patch then.

Develop some good will....money talks!
