I feel sorry that this goes into areas that aren't motorcycle orientated but I guess this has to do with freedom which is the basics of our biker lifestyle.
And so it goes...

Would they do the same if you drove a McLaren Mercedes ?
America's founding fathers knew that the defense of freedom/ liberty started at the littlest things. People gave up on the government and didn't fight for the government to protect their rights as given by our Constitution. If we aren't ever diligent in our oversight of the government then everyone loses. Yes, SA is young but it must remember that the common person is the cornerstone of freedom and if he gives up or becomes complacent, the government will be directed by the who has the biggest stick. In the case of America, it became the kicking boy of Corperations and big money who only has the bottomline as its motivation.
The Obama revolution was about the common person taking back the government from those that would turn it into their playground. Democracy is supposed to be a classless society but in reality if so called Main Street doesn't keep it honest, no amount of laws are going to keep government from becoming the playground of the one who has the gold makes the rules.
We've had a government that didn't protect the common person from transgressions by certain groups. So instead of the government protecting us, it is up to the liitle guy to do for himself. I've gotten a rude awakening about this. That it was so blantant and the hospital's management felt empowered to act in such an illegal way, that I now realize that I was living in a false sense of security. I'll never let it happen to me again but to hear that so many found themselves as little people having to fight the empowered elite for their very survival shows that our complacency has cost a lot.
For in the end, I think I survived such as I did because they wanted me personally. If I hadn't had the right experience, reputation and skill set, I would have never had this discussion. I would never been considered for this job and it would have been given to some other person that was more accepting of the corperation. In the end, democracy isn't about government. It is about the little people banding together and making themselves heard.
The whole field of nursing is about this. Congress enacted a blatant hole in the immigration laws. There is a drastic shortage of nurses but instead of enacting programs to put American's through training and into those jobs, Congress said that it was okay to hire foreign nurses who may not have the quality of training or experience at less money basically trying to freeze out Americans from competing in their own country.
As far as the McLaren Mercedes, no, I wouldn't have the problem but not because of the law or the powers of the government. It would be because I was a better infighter and had better skills to fight in the corperate wars. That I had greater power politically and business wise to overcome my foes. That I would have a bigger stick to fight off my personal foes. Democracy has classes in a supposedly classless society. The moneyed (or other empowerment) Elite and everyone else. And the common man has to remember this and always fight for its rights. .
