I'm glad you survived and had sufficient gear to reduce your injuries. What a horrific crash, totally preventable with a decent amount of consideration for others. How you took care of those that hurt you is beyond what I would have done.

Get well soon, and thanks for sharing.

Grey Thumper wrote: Er, I'm not American and not familiar with how your legal system works, but shouldn't the Deputy have immediately arrested the woman? Sounds like a confession to attempted vehicular manslaughter. Yah got a bunch of eyewitnesses to the incident too, and who were also possibly within hearing range of said beeeyatch's confession.
In the United States, we've always treated vehicular accidents as non-crimes However, this has changed in my lifetime and a slew of new laws have come into place. The drunk driver would have been arested on the spot but he was too badly hurt ao they'll keep him in the custody of an officer until he strong enough to go to jail. The whole way DUI is treated and perceived by the public is much more in line with the damage such people due each year.

However, the woman wasn't arrested because until it was proven beyond a doubt that she had actively and with malice run that stop sign placing the on coming traffic in danger. When I signed a statement as to what I saw, there was no doubt about her attitude at the time and that she had purposely put yours truly in danger. She was arrested yesterday and there were several crimes that she was accused of. Much to her anger and dismay, more than one of the statutes she was accused of have jail time as part of the penalty.

At least here in Texas, the police are much more likely to press charges and get convictions. Since the death of a motorcycle cop, there has been a realization motorcyclists are people too.

At this point I'll open up and add to the din of what should happen to people like these. I had purposely stayed out the fight because my interest was in the injured. Howeverr, the near total anger at these people has caused me to rethink what I feel towards them and people like them can due to innocent bikers.

My partner wants them all shot as due all the different motorcyclist clubs in town. I thought this was extreme until it was pointed out that I may feel that about my own personal safety but what about everyone else put into danger. I may be a super hero but most people are not nor should they have to be to enjoy motorcycling. And it's not just motorcyclists in danger but there is a callous disreguard for any other driver on the road. So I guess I'm going to have to become more political in the future, well, now.

D*mn it I wanted to stay clean of this fight. Once I'm up and around, there are a lot of people who want interviews. I've given in and will start to tell my part of the story and how I feel about it. I don't want them crusified but if it saves lives, better the few than the many. I will walk again but it will be long and painful. There may be other things that I will do without but it is for the good of the many that I must speak out.

And it isn't just the terrible drivers but they're are those who want me to speak out about motorcycle safety. I just wanted to ride and party but since I'm supposedly in an unique position, the feel I might stike a chord with other bike riders.Today I get to ride around in a wheelchair and one of the first places that I want to go is the room of a kid who dropped a Suzuki literbike. yeah, I tought so too. But now there is evidence that he might have been helped by a hit and run driver. And so it goes...

Rye, sure glad you are going to be all right.

As a new rider, I have been having the odd thought go through my head about riding with out some of my gear on these hot, muggy St. Louis days. Your story is a good reminder that the discomfort of the gear is only temporary...

I hope your story and efforts at education can wake a few people up.

+1 here too.
