That's a real pearler. Methinks you did well young Jedi.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Thanks ! :) That day I rode a 250 mile loop. It was a long day but well worth it.

I'm already looking into bar risers and a tail bag for longer multi day trips. The guys on the sv-portal forum found these great cheaper alternatives to heli-bars, maybe not as elegant but they get the job done:

Only thing is they might require a little more work like drilling holes for the brake fluid reservoir mounts and etc...

It only has 2600 miles on it which is super low for an '03. The fork seals have been replaced due to the age of the rubber and of course fluid at the recommended intervals.

In the end I went with the SV1000S because I liked it as I did the Sprint ST, it was cheaper by $600 and half the price of the ST to insure. Also I don't see myself doing more than 300 mile trips in it so I didn't need the superior touring capability.

I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me :)
Belated congratulations, Bandit. Hope you are enjoying the SV. Great bike and great engine. A silver one too - you have great taste.

Having ridden 780 miles in one day on an SV1000S I wouldn't worry too much about distance riding. It's a fantastic do-it-all bike. Just be careful to keep the front wheel on the road (unless you don't want to of course!) With all that torque you can get just a little bit carried away.

I like the Sprint too. But the SV is a lot more fun. When the time comes to part with mine, I may just look for another one.

Here is my old girl (55,000 miles on the clock now):
