S&*T! 'classic' ? dad? dammit, that movie was in the 80's - and please don't tell me it qualifies for 'classic' status or ... god forbid ... 'oldies!" it's bad enough that elevators now have muzak versions of the who and rolling stones tunes!

There is no legal definition of scooters in Va. Legally, any powered two wheeler is a motorcycle. Scooter is just the vernacular for a stepthrough.

I love other motorcycle riders. I cant see their faces but they feel like friends. Much more so than those horrible cages with 4 wheels that think they own the roads

Scooters aren't motorcycles, there's a distinctive difference in how they operate, how you sit on them etc. They're only motorcycles in the sense that they have 2 wheels. VRODs aren't real harley davidsons, because well, harley davidsons make 45 degree aircooled vtwins. The Vrod doesn't fit in that category.
Cars and trucks aren't that close either. They're both motor vehicles, and sure they share quite a bit in common. But nobody is mistaking a car for a truck. A truck normally sits higher, has a bed, is and is built for a number of things, hauling/towing, offroading etc. I don't see many cars hauling a load of stone, or pulling a fullsize camper, or offroading. But I see trucks doing it all the time.
It's funny you'd mention a sportster not being a real harley davidson. Last time I checked it had a 45 degree aircooled vtwin. Not to mention it's harley davidson's longest running line of motorcycles dating back to 1957. This is longer running than the current softail (1984), Dyna (1991), Touring (1980).
If you want to get technical you're entering my realm now. Technically a scooter IS a motorcycle. A motorcycle is a vehicle with two (or three depending on the state/country) wheels that is driven forward by a motor or engine of some sort. Blurring the line would be a moped with pedals. So scooters ARE motorcycles.
The VRod is a Harley Davidson. It is not a TRADITIONAL Harley Davidson, but it is one nonetheless. As for those that argue it's a Porsche engine in there, noooo. Porsche helped design the motor, but Kawasaki and Yamaha have helped with the Evo and the Twin Cam engines respectively. Does that make them non-Harleys as well? Don't think so.
I see plenty of trucks (including mine) that see use as a daily driver, commuter, people carrier, and just happen to have the extra capability of carrying/towing a load. Depending on whether you get a 4x4 or not, some of the 2 wheel drive trucks sit lower than some cars I've seen stock for stock.
He's not saying Sporties aren't real HDs, he's saying a lot of HD fans say they're not real HDs, mainly because they don't come in the 96 CI displacement like the Twin Cam does.

Same thing with New Jersey. The only two-wheeled vehicle that is legally different is a moped, which must have pedals to assist the engine, and cannot be able to exceed 25 mph. Anything with two wheels and an engine that doesn't fit the moped definition is a motorcycle.

The El Camino and the Ranchero come to mind. Look like cars carry load like trucks.

Well, since I do hear songs from the 80s on the oldies station, I think it qualifies.

Of course, when it comes to pop culture, everything becomes a classic so much faster, as I realized when a song from maybe the 90s or 00s came on my coworker's car radio and I thought "whoa, old-school... Wait, what?"

If you want a modern version, look at the Holden Ute. Like a Camino or Ranchero, but modern looks, and a LS6 under the hood.

LS6?

I'll take mine in a 1970 version. And make mine a Chevelle SS454 instead of the El Camino.

But one thing you don't have is the love and passion of riding a motorcycle, you see I have nothing to prove to any of you other motorcycle riders cause I don't ride to prove and pretend to be someone I am not.
I see it almost everyday one guy has the biggest and baddest bike out there but a blind man can see he can't ride it, my favorate talking point I say to almost every rider I meet is "Nice Bike Too Bad You Can't Ride It"
Yea, I ride a 500 scooter thats not fast, it doesn't have the rip your arms off acceleration, yea you guys cut it down and make fun of it, but at least I don't have to pretend to be someone I am not and I didn't buy it to impress you, I bought it for me for my passion and fun, but you'll never know I can take that big HD you have been riding for 5 years and ride it better than you.
I don't have any riding buddies anymore
Just seen this. It has to be a joke or a wind-up, right?

LOL. Marvin, old fellah, you're in serious danger of becoming the pub bore.
