Well, I almost enlisted in the Candian Armed forces (wanted to be in the Armor) while I was first year college student, got the package and everything. and if thats soemthing you interested inm, do you research, talk tot he wife and see how it would affect your life (financially, emotionally and physically) Myself, I am still toying with the idea of joining the army reserve unit that we have here in northern ontario, but I dont know how shift work would mesh with the training requirments and obligations, I could use the extra coin, and travelling a bit would be interesting. plus it does look good on the resumee for future jobs.

I find that an interesting use of the world 'positive,' Toy.

I think you are nuts. (In the nicest possible way of course) :)

I remember spending six months talking a seventeen year old out of joining up. Eventually he became a tree surgeon instead. I don't know what being a tree surgeon actually involves but it sounds kinda fun - and no-one gets killed or robbed or coerced or disempowered or disenfranchised, and the world's resources don't get used up for self-serving political/commercial ends. That's what I would call a positive result.

It's too late to change his mind. The deal is done.

Yeah, I guess. That's how it happens. There's a lot that's attractive in the lifestyle. It's just the outcomes that are not so hot - for anyone, really.

Good luck anyway, Toyuzu.

Thanks, SV. First time I've checked this thread in over a month. I wonder what happened to my e-mail notification? :?

John's right, I'm in. But it's the Army, not the Air Force. Long story short - I decided to enlist full-time and I'm too old for the other branches.

Don't start buying flowers for my funeral yet though. I'm determined to make it work. I'll keep ya'll posted. 8)

Good to hear from you, Toyuzu.

Take care of that hide of yours, huh.
