Im from Houston. Most of the people around me take their bikes out 249 or 290 to get away from the traffic.

Somecallmetim,
Very, very few. I'm about 3 hrs South of DFW and there are only about 5-10 days a year where it just to bad to ride. Last winter we had 1 day that the road iced over. I will say, listening to weather reports, that when we get bad wintry weather, DFW Metroplex takes the brunt of it. Even with that said, not many days you can't ride. You're going to love the area weather wise for biking, but traffic in the DFW area is another topic. Welcome to Texas!!!!!

Sabredude,
Thanks for the info. I lived there back in the late 80's/early 90's. I did not have a bike then, so I could not remember exactly how bad the winters were. I am really looking foreward to getting back. We are looking at the Burleson area.

hey I'm from texas too, down by IH20 and State Hwy 69 (Tyler/Lindale)
There's a new site opening up called TexasCruisers.com.......I think it'll be better once it gets going, that way we won't have to sort through all that content from other areas
