Think about that a little harder and the understanding of why they do what they do will come to you; if HD's market research indicated that people wanted zippy sport bikes with all the latest gee-whiz technology, then that is what they'd be building.
Forsure. After all, I do ride a Moto Guzzi V7, which is even less advanced in some ways vs a Harley-Davidson (1947 Heron heads anyone?).

And now what you have all been waiting for, the 1 week Cool Wall results....

Your Coolness Factor of the 2014 Harley-Davidson FLHXS Street Glide Special is..

Awesome (3 points) 14% [ 3 ]
Cool (2 points) 57% [ 12 ]
Uncool (1 point) 24% [ 5 ]
Fail (0 point) 5% [ 1 ]

Total votes : 21

= a Coolwall Factor of 60.3%

NOTES: Harley-Davidson (always remember to put that - between them, H-D gets testy if you forget...it's a true story you'll have to ask me about sometime) turns a corner and introduces their first High Output and water cooled Big Twin engine. Will H-D find new rider favor with this new design or turn away die-hard loyals? Overall, I did expect more interest in the new 2014 model and I know that Harley-Davidson does read this thread as well so I wonder what they are thinking too... I'm sure they are gathering rider feedback all over the place but 60.3% Coolness isn't that bad of an ending.

Next bike is now up for voting on, have fun!!

Mike

I voted fail because the introduction of a touch screen on a motorcycle is a dangerous thing.

I just think adding a large screen that takes eyes off the road and a hand off the bars to touch commands is a recipe for disaster.

It wouldn't matter what manufacturer did this...it just seems wrong.

For years all the large touring bikes from Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, BMW, Harley and Victory have had all kinds of little buttons and switches within reach of the rider that require momentary eye and hand contact to operate. The Gold Wing has had an in-dash GPS since 2008. Just seems a little harsh to fail a bike simply because it has a touch screen, when so many other distractions have been standard equipment on many other bikes for years.

Not to mention how many bikes add gps systems or tablets that provide maps, music and caller I'd for cellphone calls. The market asks for it so why not build it into the bike? Your personal thoughts on safety don't change that.

Gummi...I was not aware that there already existed in dash things like gps's.

I thought this was something new.

Sheesh..I'm entitled to my opinion.
