I also recommend Total Control by Lee Parks which is also a good beginning book mostly for sportbike but cruiser applied as well. I also have this book but I wanna keep it for my reference.

VermilionX and all, I'm not nearly as concerned about you being a danger to yourself and others as I am about you being a threat to my right to ride. There are many in this country that would like to greatly restrict our right to ride motorcycles or to even eliminate it altogether.

I've always favored a minimum of goverment regulation in such matters as wearing a helmet and what kind of a bike we choose to ride. But this is not working, large cruisers with excessively loud pipes are thundering all over in our extremely congested area where they greatly annoy the general public with no concern for them at all. It seems that the folks who scream the most about their rights are the ones who show little respect for the rights of others.

IMHO, bikes like the GSX1000R belong on race tracks and not on the public streets. The fact that any kid over 18 can walk in and buy one of these with no bike license, no training, and no experience at all from a totally irresponsible salesman who could care less what happens after the buyer leaves just screams for some kind of regulation. I'm beginning to think that a tiered licensing system is the only answer since so many just will not regulate themselves. The much reported antics of the Star Boy types doing wheelies down the freeways at triple digit speeds is as much a threat to our right to ride as the thundering herd is.

By the way, who taught David Hough how to ride?

BTW there is a girl who also ride GSXR 1000 and not so much on experience either.

if you mean nanette, i just met her and her husband earlier today. she rides the same bike as mine even the color, she said it's her 3rd bike, but only w/in a year. her husband rides an '04 busa.

she and her husband were kind enough to visit me and tutor me since i can't drive yet to their monthly training. it's too far if i can't take freeways.

i learned a lot from them from just this day. thanks for leading me to the SCLR forum and thanks again for the book. (i don't have it yet but i'll probably get it w/in this coming week)

The book is on the way. I'm glad you like SCLR. It just more fun and safer to ride with friends and espeically friends who know what they are doing. Try to make some of skillz day, I bet you will learn a lot from that one day. I rode with them a couple time and also attend skillz day from time to time. Since the group has changed their name (SCLR is a new name) I'm no longer able to post on that forum, I think someone took out my screen name.
