Mr. flyrider,, The point I was making that you have no clue is, is that most motorcycle dealers are scumbag lowlife ripoff crooks where they know the guy buying the bike can't afford the insurance and they say nothing just to get the sale, then after they sign the paperwork buying the bike, then they go home and shop for insurance, then they get a shock how much the insurance costs then they can't afford it, so within 2 hours the buyer goes back to the dealer and wants to return the bike, but the lowlife scumbag dealer says "too bad you bought it" "ha ha get outta here loser ha ha ha ha"! I mean If I owned a dealership I couldn't be that mean and heartless buy taking advantage of someone !

Mr Moto... have you actually had a dealer call you a loser to your face? Or is that just another of your 'homey interpetations' of what really happened during one of your unpleasant interactions with the human race?

How would they know if they could afford the insurance or not? Before you go spouting off that they can figure out your credit score... think of this. Do they know all the variables used in insurance claims? Do they know all these details and how they relate to the customer, all the personal information needed for these variables, what options the customer is going to swap and choose, how much money the customer has saved up in the bank, or stocks, or assets? Maybe the credit was affected because of who they married, or a divorce, or from court.
And the dealership I bought my bike from had a 72 hour return policy with the sale... so stop it with all of your broad generalizing, stupid blind hatred you have for everything and everyone other than yourself.

I have no clue? That's hilarious coming from you
If the motorcycle dealer doesn't sell insurance, how could he possibly know : A) How much it will cost for that particular individual. and B) Whether or not that individual has the resources to pay for it.
He's a motorcycle salesman, not your accountant. Get a clue!

Do you guys pay yearly? What about the months that you can't ride. It would be nice to be able to pay in 4/6 months intervals but all the companies I've found are yearly.

I pay annually, but if I remember correctly... progressive direct online has an option for monthly payments.
Unless the ground outside turns is tundra or accessable by boats... I'm riding!

Im 20 as of yesterday and my insurance for a 06 gsxr600 fully insured for a 12m period is 1000 and some change.
What is your driving "step", or point depending on if they switched it over where you are. Seems to me like you have a very bad driving record to have that high of insurance, and or you havnt had your motorcycle license for awhile. I know after 3 years it drops drematically! ive had my permit since 16 1/2 and license at 17 1/2. My vehicle insurance dropped a lot this year as well.
but like i said up there, it sounds like you have had more than a few run ins with the guys in blue!

Cruisers are inexpensive to insure. I have an 1100 Shadow and FJR 1300
No tiks, wrecks. Pay $756 year for $100/$300 Liabilty ONLY to get the same coverage for uninsured and underinsured. $500 deduct.
The highest portion of the premium is for UNDERinsured motorist coverage, Go figure. Im paying for those who only buy the minimum.

I'm 19, and got quoted at progressive for $33.23/month for minimum Bodily/Property and Uninsured and $5k medical. Not bad for having no motorcycle experience. My bike is a 95 Yamaha YZF 600R.

Anyone that goes to purchase any sort of vehicle without looking into what the insurance would cost is a complete idiot in the first case. If you were going to go down and buy a brand new sports car you would probably look into what insurance cost first so why wouldn't you with a bike?
Just reading this one article it's easy to see that insurance for some people and bikes can be $200 a year and for other people and bikes it can be +$1500 a year. Your car salesman isn't going to sit you down and ask about your driving history, MSF class history, how many other cars you own etc.. Just to help figure out how much money you're going to need to give SOMEONE ELSE.. talk about a waste of time.
