If you can't afford a helmet you can't afford to ride.
Riding is inherently dangerous and if you can't afford to be out of work it's not the cheap transportation that it looks like.
Better take the bus or the LPC's.

Maybe this is just a regional problem cause the dealerships around my area ARE the stores. There's no one gear store dedicated solely to gear around here.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
