Well, I recently became a vegetarian and I wear leather still. When I end up getting new stuff I won't go with leather though.

I also don't get why people care that I am a vegetarian. I don't try to convert anybody, yet people still don't like that fact that I don't eat meat...

Well, I suppose I can understand why. I am an atheist and I sometimes group all Christians togeather unfairly. I try not to, but it happens.

That said, don't try to convert me and I won't try to convert you.

well, personally I belive the only good cow is a dead one. I hate cows, had a few try to kill me on a few occasions. BUT, I also dont eat beef, bad for my cholesterol and just not a great source of much, and I havent felt any health issues aside from feeling better after not eating beef. but thats me, and if I go to dinner with the parents for a celebration sometimes, and very rarely, I will get me a big ol slab of some form of cow, and laugh at the plate, saying "ha, die cow die, now I shall eat you you dumb milk machine!" but thats me, I'm a little weird, I also ride a cruiser in full goldwing touring gear.... I also have a hard time thinking that anyone whos ever seen a cow up close, smelled a cow up close, touched a cow, or been around them very much, would really and truely feel bad for the way these cows are treated, honestly if left to their own devices, all the DO is stand around and eat, and often stand around in big crowds, so the crowding and "inhumane" treatment they get out west, just whiney people who've never been around the beasts. plus, "inhumane"....? they are not human! maybe if you want to say "inbovine" or something.....
anyways, I tolerate but lightly mock those who give the "nothing with a face" explaination (sorry loonette, but hey, you get to mock me for my high chloresterol!) as being whiney over sensitive people. but, there is so much bovination going on that not using the very usefull leather would be bad karma. On car seats and furniture its not fashion, it feels nice against skin, cause it is skin, everyone likes being touched, and it holds up better to spilled drinks and other fluids that can commonly find their way to couches and car seats.....

(I dont convert, I just mock, and if it starts to really bug them I stop, its all fun and games till someone shakes a raw steak around in their mouth like an angry dog..... then its just, well, not right)

I have been a vegetarian for as long as I can remember. I don't mind seeing other people eating meet, I don't mind wearing leather, in fact I like wearing leather, heck I would probably even enjoy hunting. I just don't like the thought of eating meat.

As for leather goods; many people may argue that breeders use as much cow parts as possible to prevent waste, which is true in many cases, but the fact is that some breeders breed certain species of cows only for the highest quality leather and discard the poor quality meat. Vice Versa is also true.

Well, Dichot, given your views on cows, this merely suggests that the poor beasts have more intelligence than they are generally given credit for. :)

Anyway, given the terrible lives they are forced to lead (I grew up in a dairy farming community, so, yes, I do speak from direct experience) you can't bame them trying to get a few rocks off, now can you? :)

Stupidity kills.
Cows ARE stupid.
Cows can kill you.

But...
It's also pretty easy to kill a cow.
And they are mighty tasty citters.

I eat meat. And as part of my degree I had to watch a cow get stunned, the neck slit, de-hided, eviscerated, and cut in half. It was pretty gruesome. But I still eat meat.

Because it's damn tasty and I couldn't live without it.
