Re: What did you do today...
Rather dreary October day here (yes I know it's June, but you wouldn't know it from the weather lately), so stayed home, did laundry, played baby sitter to grown men aka truck drivers, and spent time on craigs list drooling over boats, want to get myself a nice tidy little salmon chaser, something around 20 to 25 feet with an enclosed cabin and maybe a command bridge. Prefer a diesel inboard over either a gas inboard or outboard.
Always ask why.

rolled the Victory over to 6,000 miles. returned a license plate to the guy that i bought the Road Glide from and chatted with him a bit. fell asleep on the couch after playing computer games for a bit. now that it's a new day, it's time to start working on the next 6,000 miles.

Went to work (on the train). Did work-like things. Came home (on the train). Did unworklike things.
Boring really.
Boring really.

Yes, living in a cardboard box under a throughway overpass would be more exciting...... which is exactly where I'd be living if I don't keep on doing the boring things they want me to do for $$$!!sv-wolf wrote:Went to work (on the train). Boring really.

(p.s. I DID ride a motorcycle to work, though. A Triumph motorcycle. A Triumph motorcycle with a functional electrical system, no less!!

Is that a moral homily, Mr Stark?jstark47 wrote: Yes, living in a cardboard box under a throughway overpass would be more exciting...... which is exactly where I'd be living if I don't keep on doing the boring things they want me to do for $$$!!
What a service you offer! Do you hear confessions as well?
I was planning on giving you the benefit of the doubt - and then I read what you wrote underneath (which, in cowardly fashion, you disguised in a small font) ---->

The only thing that restrained me from making an excedingly tart remark about your extremely unkind one was the recollection that you are another working soul labouring under the yoke of capitalist exploitation.jstark47 wrote:(p.s. Count yourself lucky, JS! You really don't deserve it!

Re: What did you do today...
so - I know it's really no big deal for most of the ppl here - but today was a big day for my riding - I live about 15 miles north of Boston, which translates to about an hour and a half drive - and decided to take the bike in full city traffic into the city today for a conference i was attending.
well, the hour and half turned into TWO and a half hours - HORRIBLE traffic in a combination of 2, 4, and 6 lane highways ... All I wanted to do was lane split to get ahead, but didn't because a) pretty sure its illegal here, and b) considering that I was stretching my skill envelope a bit to begin with, thought it might be a fairly stupid idea. So I waited my turn in the interminable line of cars.
I was in full gear, including overpants, which gave me a little bit of extra courage for a 'just in case' scenario. Everyone on the road behaved well, until I got into Boston - then all bets were off. Some guy got pissed off at me and zoomed around me - then realized he just pissed off a guy on a bike, who, for all he knew, had a bunch of other guys around the corner with patches of one sort or another (which i SO don't), and he made a quick exit off the road. I'm sure if I had adorned my helmet with mohawks like SOME ppl here, he might have avoided honking and zooming altogether!
So, the only ... umm... catches today were
1) TOLLS. I had to actually put the kickstand down to fish out my wallet, take off glove (managed to do it removing only one glove) pay, get change, put it all away, put glove back on, kickstand up, put the bike in gear (luckily i am fairly good at doing that in the correct order, or would have had the engine shut off on me).
While i'm sure it didn't take THAT much time objectively, it FELT like forever with all the cagers around me and my unfounded fear that they were all yelling "come on already!"
2) Tunnels. I'm used to rolling up windows and turning off vents when I'm in my cage to avoid breathing too many fumes, but you can't do that on the bike. I also felt REALLY vulnerable in the tunnels... not a lot of fun.
the ride home was more enjoyable - I found that I am always a bit nervous on the slab when traffic paces me, so I usually find myself hanging back, or when passing, doing it quick and getting it done - never knowing when someone is going to change lanes unexpectedly.
Hope this isn't too boring for everyone, and brings back fond memories for ya! I'm happy to move these long posts to a blog if the Mods want me to do so.
Thanks for reading!
(P.S. for some reason, no matter how hard I looked, I could NOT find a sexy blonde in a blue bikini top on a yamaha anywhere... must be my imagination running wild again - no idea where that mental image comes from ..
- lol)

still recovering - back to crutches, then walking with a stick, then running - then hopefully riding again!

Bought my boy a Wii today. My arm is sore from jousting him for the past hour. He can't get enough of knocking daddy off into the water.
