At least you got there safely ya big ole squid... lol
I helped a friend rewire his ignition today. He's got an 08 FZ1 that someone stole once with the screwdriver method, then parked it around the corner where the cops recovered it. The guy came back to do it again and his wife came home while the guy was working on it. She asked him what he was doing, he said "I was the one that stole this bike a few weeks ago, and now I'm gonna get it for good" and chased her into the house with a knife. He tried to kick down the door while she called the cops. The moron stuck around and was still trying to get the bike when the cops showed up. He got sentenced to probation and community service for theft, attempted theft, attempted assault with a deadly weapon, and felony menacing. Some judges...

Anyway since his ignition was punched out we cut the wires and put in extra wiring, then ran it to a toggle switch under the seat (where you need a key to pull off the seat). But just in case he comes back we made it an invisible mod, so no one could possibly tell where it was, plus we left the old ignition in place just to screw with his head... lol

Started my new job yesterday. Seems I will get along great with this shop. Hopefully I stay permanently here, at least until I go back to school.
Today I did a carb clean on an old FZR-600 and had a bone-head moment. I cleaned the carbs completely, put them back together, got the bike running, and it was acting super rich and weird. Boss and I were trying to figure out what was wrong with it when I started looking around my work area. Yeah helps if you put the main jets back in the carbs... lol So I found out that bikes can run without main jets, they just run SUPER rich!

I worked an hour overtime, had a nice ride home, went to a local coffee shop for cappucino.

It is so nice to finally be able to ride without several layers for warmth.

Haha you gotta love those bone head moments. reminds me of the time I put the cams in a sportsman 500 in 180 degrees the wrong way. Didn't figure it out until it was completely assembled and tried to start it. Yeah, it sucked air in through the exhaust and out through the carbs. Or the time I put the the steering cables in reveresed on a customers boat. Didn't figure that one out until the customer ran his boat (slowly no damadge) on ground because he wanted to go left but went right instead. :frusty:
I feared for my job after that one. But the boss man just said that it wasn't the first time a boat left the shop like that.

Anyway, good luck with this one.

Lol it ended up running fine... Then today it wouldn't start cold. Until you warmed it up in the sun then it ran... WTF?
Ended up doing a compression test on it. I have officially seen cylinders with no compression fire now.
Cyl 1-20 PSI
Cyl 2-0 PSI
Cyl 3-0 PSI
Cyl 4-75 PSI
And it wasn't missing on any cylinder is the crazy part.

Other than that figured out how to pull the valve covers off of a Venture Royale without removing the fairings. And did 5 tire changes and 2 oil changes for some Canuckistanians that came through on their annual summer trip through the US. One of the guys was riding a very good condition Honda CBR1100 Super Blackbird with over 191K km on it... That's a heck of a lot of riding!

I drove my car to work this morning, went to the dentist after work, then to a union meeting. I drove because of how long the day would be and then being tired and going home home in the dark.

2 wheels tomorrow though.

Picked up Connie again from Cypress last night and rode to work today. Cruising down highway 99, glance at the speedo and opps, I am pulling a ton...back it off a bit....enjoying the ride to work, glance down again and oppsie again, I am now pulling 30 KPH over a ton......arrived at work with a big smile on my face and a travel mug full of still warm coffee in the paniers. Amazing what you can do with plastic wrap and a travel mug with a screw on lid. This Sunday is the annual Vancouver Fire Fighters Burn Fund Run, in support of their camp for kids who suffered and survived burns. Planning on taking my favourite nephew with me this time.

Those that are interested, registration starts at 7AM at Trev Deeleys and the ride begins at 9:30, ending up at Harrison Hot Springs. Registration is C$25. It was a fast ride last year and attracts a lot of the sports bike crown. Geezer Glides were relegated to the back of the pack last year.
Always ask why.
