weird my typing never showed up.... Its been snowing a couple of days now here.jstark47 wrote:Took three bikes and ran them around today - Trophy, VStrom, and my wife's BMW F650 (Bonneville has been in the shop for 3 weeks). None of them had stabilizer in the fuel. We had been riding up to a couple weeks ago, then it got rainy and cold all of a sudden. So I needed to put in the stabilizer and run them around awhile to charge up batteries. (We don't winterize bikes).
Rode first bike over to the shop to check progress on the Bonneville. Good news is Triumph approved replacing the pipes under warranty (yay!) These were Triumph aftermarket pipes called "TORs" (Triumph Off Road). The chrome on one had basically self-destructed. Now we wait for the parts to come in.
Came back, picked up second bike, her BMW. Wife decides we should go back to the dealership, and she'll tag along in her car (because........ she didn't feel like gearing up for a short trip??????![]()
) She wanted to ask the shop (Suzuki/Kawasaki/Triumph/KTM dealer) if they'll install the center stand on her BMW. We'd tried to get it on last summer. I didn't have the special tool needed to stretch the spring, couldn't manage it by brute force. Had forgotten about it (actually thought she'd returned the center stand). The shop agreed, then 1) did it while we waited (most excellent #1) and 2), DIDN'T CHARGE US FOR IT!!!
(most excellent #2!)
must be nice. its been snowing here for a couple days now.
Well, I hadn't bought her a birthday present (Oct. 22) as she was in Germany at that time..... so, I bought a helmet from the shop for her. She's come full circle, no more pricey helmets, no more articulated helmets - just a plain old HJC CL-16. HJC's happen to fit us both well and are comfortable.
Then came home, got the third bike and ran it around. By now it's 4pm, and 35 degrees and breezy. Brrrrrr.
What did you do today...

I was in Paris last Sunday to see a marvellous dance show, "Anna Karenina" by the Eifman Ballet Theatre of St Petersburg. Adapted from Lev Tolstoï, a dark story of love and death, with great performers. Sorry, but I'm unable to share my feelings in English. See short cuts below :

Then back home today, with a thin layer of snow :

Arnaud, I read Anna Karenin. It was a long tragic book. I did not really enjoy reading it. The ballet looked much better. That principle dance is very lithe, flexible and athletic.
Your snow looks good. I think snow makes a landscape look pretty.

Re: What did you do today...
I was looking after my (soon to be five years old) nephew. We went browsing at Toys R Us. We had a deal. It was not for shopping, but for looking and making a list. We wandered the store for an hour and a half looking at stuff and writing things down. He sure was a good kid. I bought him a Bakugan....such good behaviour deserved a treat. (Isn't that what Aunts do?
)
He finally had enough and we went home to make some dinner.
We watched Frosty the Snowman.

Changed the brakes on dad's minivan. He paid me and bought me lunch. Then helped Grandma out with her slow flowing faucet by cleaning it out. Took the dog to the dog park. It was a good day

Re: What did you do today...
Wife got a phone call from her BMW dealer about a recall on the front brakes. They were rather urgent about it, so the bike's got an appointment for this Saturday. That's the second recall on that bike in three months. Saturday's supposed to be 45 degrees (instead of 25 degrees like it's been all week), so we're going to ride up. She wants to buy me an electric vest for Christmas, needs me there to try it on. And - hey - it's a BMW/Ducati/Triumph dealer, with a Honda/Piaggio/Hyosung dealer next door. I'm sure I'll find something to ogle while we wait for her bike.....

Check to make sure you're not wearing something washed with a scented detergent. Make sure your face is obscured/camoflaged. Take a walk in ALL of your gear and listen for sounds you make when you move.

Re: What did you do today...
Wife and I rode 55 miles to Metuchen to get recall service done on her bike. We amused ourselves sitting on BMW's (also Honda's, saw a VFR1200F at the Honda place next door), trying on boots, and getting a Gerbings vest (her Christmas present to me). Then rode 55 miles back home.
Then went to the local Triumph dealer, picked up my Bonneville that's been there since November 13. Rebuilt clutch, new chain, new sprockets, new front tire, and new TOR pipes (under warranty, getting the approval is what took most of the time.) Mrs. Stark picked up her two new helmets (birthday present from me.)
Came home on the Bonneville, took the Trophy out for a run. Temps were up to low 40s by now, definitely riding weather!!
So all four bikes are home, with charged up batteries and fuel stabilizer in their tanks. Rain tomorrow, then back to brutal cold next week. Surprised it hasn't snowed here yet. We'll see how long until the next riding day.....

Re: What did you do today...
its not detergent or wind sounds. I can walk within 5 feet of most of the deer but does me no good because I cant exactly shoot my bow on a moments notice lol. Since I am on state land my problem was I didnt have a state land doe permit so couldnt legally shoot the doe with my shotgun. I will be on private land in a couple weeks with a shotgun to get my doe... I wont have a problem kicking one up then and shooting it (no fair letting it lay there and shoot it lol).Wrider wrote:Check to make sure you're not wearing something washed with a scented detergent.
