There have to be 25 places that come up with Google search for motorcycle closeouts in your area.

Most in the area are "boutique" kind of shops where you will not find a jacket under $600 , and have very limited stocks. I guess if I find one pair of gloves I fall in love with, great, but I am not going to hit a dozen different places to search, not yet anyway. Sticking to the big places that cater to people who want to spend $600 on a jacket, but also people who want to spend $100... and have more than two styles of gloves in stock .

All I know of is... Renton Motorcycle (Renton), Eagle Leather (Tacoma), and Hinshaws (Auburn).

Got home from New York City... And let me just say wow... What a freaking experience!
Got to meet JCViper in person.
Got to almost get killed by homicidal cabbies (both as a fare and as a pedestrian).
Got to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Empire State Building, Central Park, Grand Central, etc etc etc.
Wow... If you ever get a chance to go, GO! This coming from a guy who is much more comfortable in the middle of nowhere than in a city...
Have owned - 2001 Suzuki Volusia
Current bike - 2005 Kawasaki Z750S
MMI Graduation date January 9th, 2009. Factory Certifications in Suzuki and Yamaha

Had big plans. Still gotta drain my tank and try to diagnose my gas problem. But all the local shops are closed to can't get my hands on any wax yet, really trying to keep from riding since I have put 630 miles on, and though it looked like it had been waxed recently when I bought it, who knows how many miles it had gone without wax. Guess for the first time in two weeks I can be not-so-bummed about the poor weather today!

Heh, yeah. Next time you come by we should hit up bars or something instead of doing the usual touristy things... except riding the subways (the only sensible way of getting around)

Trust me, the city gets real great when you go to the locals hang out spots. Too bad the weather really sucked temperature wise, and yeah crazy cabbies who are in a rush because people in NYC are always in a rush compared to other cities. :ninja:

Well, this makes 2 TMW members I've met. Ninja Geoff is the other while on my way back from Team O'Neil Rally School. We both managed to get a ride in despite being out in the pouring rain. Let's see who else is next... I know I live really close to a few people like those in New Jersey. It won't be long considering I've made NJ Motorsport Park my destination of choice on weekends.

And in other news.... I have to renew my registration, see if it's worth renewing 2 racing licenses, confirm any points awarded for Rally America/ Rally Car in order to rent the rally car, and confirm my application to the Santa Barbara, CA police department...

Alrighty.... I will be heading to Santa Barbara, CA in April to be part of the application process for the Police Academy!

It would be nice if they gave me some study material or such but I guess I should be happy that I was selected.

So who can I crash with while in California?

Heh, that would be cool to do if this was during the summer and not bad weather spring time. I'm only there for various tests (physical and aptitude) and interviews. Not really given much info on how long I'll be there or anything else on the matter but I know the Police academy will be soon after the examination and interview. It's not like NYPD where there are several thousands of candidates and 2 academies a year.

I expect to only be there for 2 -3 weekends at most but results of each exam will be given on the day of and the process goes forward so who knows. This just means I need to have an open ended plane ticket.

Worked the regular ridiculous two to three hour shift. Walked the dog. Had a long talk with my recruiter, I wish I were more confrontational because he kept telling me I did not want this one job because it was heavy cold-calling, but I know for a fact the job he is pushing me towards is 100% cold calling . I basically told him whatever, I want a job. :?

Did finally get a call back for a brewery I applied with like a month and a half ago , no idea what the job is but pretty confident it will just be a low-end temporary thing, but I love the brewery and you never know about that stuff, can always turn into better things. And it could be something better, I did not even ask what the job is they wanted to interview me for .

Good luck JC! I hate open ended stuff like that, the academy process seems strange. I think when my dad did it, you got in, completed it, and became a cop. None of this stage-by-stage stuff. Though it was not in California.
