I was just complaining about the same thing last time we went out for a long ride. We were gone most of the day, but only did about 80 miles because we spent so much time on local roads fighting traffic to get to some nice riding roads.

Hi Shorts
Really enjoying your blog. Many thanks.
I watched your videos (back a page) last night. It gave me a new perspective on the landscape there - very different from what I'd imagined. For the first time I began to understand why Japanese tourists say they feel so much at home here in the English countryside. Apart from the road signs and a few small details, I could have sworn youir vids were filmed in Northern England.
Keep 'em coming.

I'm sorry you crashed and rashed up the bike. I'm glad you're not hurt. I'm surprised Fly_Guy didn't didn't dump his- ST2 is about the last bike I'd ever take off pavement.
I'm a chicken about gravel and big bikes, I would have turned around when the pavement ended. Touring NY in June, Mrs. & I came on some fresh "oil & chip" - took us 5 minutes to convince ourselves to keep going. Ended up being about 7-8 miles of it, but we came through OK. Wiggly, though.

Shorts, didn't you say I was NEVER allowed to get a BMW?
Anyway, all I need is a German bike, and I'll have owned one built by all of the Axis powers (Kawasaki, Ducati,...).
