Endo from class is preparing to enter a streetfighter building competition hosted over at http://www.customfighters.com. He has asked me to document the build for him. Pictures and associated write up. With any luck streetfigher mag will be persuaded to do an article on the winner. They've already expressed a little interest in the whole idea, and have asked to be kept in the loop. Endo and I are going to submit the "Build Blog," to them regardless. It'd be good exposure for his building... and my writing :D!

So without further ago. I present

I believe that they are either CRG Hindsights or a very good knock off. I picked them up pretty cheap on e-bay, but not too cheap. Overall, I'm very happy with them.

Hokay, so Project Darkside is off to a good start. Mostly safety stuff being done as the official build doesn't start until Jan 1st. But bearings and seals are being replaced left right and center. Tomorrow we drive into the city to pick up some swingarm bearings so we can finally get the bike back on wheels. Very exciting, lol.

Above and beyond that, class has been interesting. I've officially pulled apart, inspected and reassembled a 2-stroke motorcycle engine. That's right, I've had my hands inside the mighty KE100, a sidecarb, rotary valve 100cc 2-stroke motorcycle with a self retracting clutch. Very cool stuff.

Had to take apart and measure everything to the 1/1000th of a mm, or 1/10000 of an inch. Just the heat from your hand is enough to change the measurements when you get that small. But everything came out to within acceptable specs, and it all went back together.

I'd like to say it turned over on the first kick, but that would be a lie. The carb float bowl was empty, so I had to kick it a couple of times to get it to fill up, then turn over. But it fired up, sounded good, stayed running and didn't seize. It's rather nerve-wracking kicking something like that over, knowing that if you messed up your about to have something that could potentially explode between your legs. Haha.

It's an amazing feeling to have it turn over and work though. Huge smile after that. I almost forgot to get signed out on the job sheet I was so excited.

I've got pictures floating around somewhere, which will hopefully be posted soon.

Above and beyond that. Classes are nearly done for the semester!!! I've got mon-wed off to study. Thursday is the midterm, and Friday morning I head home for two weeks. Going to be nice to see my family and friends again. Better hide guys, I'M COMIN' HOME!

It's Thursday, and I'm DONE! Huzzah.

16 weeks of my 28 week course completed. Today was my final exam, only scored an 80% on it, which I'm not overly happy with. It brought my average down a little for exams, I'm at 84% right now for the tests, but batting at near perfect for my practicals. So I think I'm doing pretty well overall. Well above class average at any rate.

After the final some friends and I (Endo and D from earlier) went out for a celebratory lunch at the best restaurant in town (Subway). And returned to class at 1:00 along with a couple other studends to setup and watch "Worlds Fastest Indian" with both of our instructors.

The projector worked well once I realised the computer volume was muted we had sound and everything. Only took me 1 minute too (I've had THAT problem before). Anyways, the movie was good... of course. And our instructors seemed to genuinely appreciate that some of us were willing to come back and spend time with them after class. It was a lot of fun, and I'm hoping that we'll do it again next semester at least a couple of times.

Too endo, D and anyone else that reads my blog. I'll see you guys next semester, have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

PS. Thanks for being such good friends and making the year bearable ;)

So, you're "RIDING" home???

Seriously though, congrats on completing the first big part of your course. We all know you'll do great in the next part as well. Then you can move to the coast and work year round on bikes... Two in particular come to mind... (errrr... mine and blues...  )

Because I might not have the chance to post this before the big day.

Merry Christmas Everybody.

I hope you get coal... or failing that gasoline. And a nice hot day to use it on.

I'm back in Fairview, classes start tomorrow.

Our 6 hour drive was turned into 8 because of freezing rain. God damn I hate Alberta sometimes.
