A kid in my town just died last week. He hit a truck head on. Had he been wearing a helmet he would have suffered a broken leg and arm, instead he is dead.

After riding quads, dirtbikes, minibikes, snowmobiles, and everything else under the sun that you can play around on and do stupid stuff on 
, you come to realize that had you not had your helmet on:
That tree branch that took you out off the jump,
The rocks your cousin flipped up at your face while "spinnin' 'em",
The barrel roll that you took down that hill hitting everything that you possibly could,
and even that time you went ovr backwards while first learning the concept of that very fun thing called a clutch...
They all would have done a whole lot more damage than hurt your pride had you not been wearing a helmet (and sometimes they did!). Let's face it, scars may be fricken cool as hell, and I'll be the first to say that (got a nice little patchwork on my head from roughhousing too much
) but who is really going to enjoy a scar taking up the majority of your cheek, or the scar on the back of your head that leaves you with a 3 inch diameter bald spot. The answer is no-one. How are you supposed to pick up chicks with a nasty 3 inch bald spot on the back of your head? Or a scar on your face that makes you look like you were cast from a horror film.
Putting a lid on when riding your bike should be an absolute no-brainer. There's really no reason not to wear one. They are very comfortable, they save countless lives, and they can be INCREDIBLY COOL LOOKING!!!
. So basically, I think that everyone should slap on a lid before they pop on out to that open road. And if anyone gives you flack for it, just tell them that "Brandon says it's cool to wear a helmet, even if it is pink."

Oh goodie, the helmet issue again. Acutally I'm glad that it comes up every once in awhile. I love wearing a helmet. I'm pretty much a don't-get-into-my-personal-business sort of person, but when it comes to motorcycle helmets, I truly believe they should be mandatory. However, they aren't, so I still get to make a choice (Ohio), and I always wear my lid. I bought an open-face lid last summer, thinking it would be nice for really hot days. I can't stand the thing. It makes me feel very vulnerable. So, it's full-face all the time for me.
In Ohio, I see about a 50/50 split with helmet usage. And yes, it's mostly the Harley riders who don't wear them (and when I visit friends in Michigan {helmet laws}, the Harley riders all where the little half-shells). But that is part of the Harley image, and so what. People have their own rationale for what they do. But you don't have to claim that same rationale for yourself. Only I am able to place a value on my life and make the decisions that are right for me. And it's the same for everyone else.

I wear a full face/flip-up HJC.
One extra benefit I found was that it keeps wind from drying my eyes too much. Some days I ride with the visor open one notch. Other days when my eyes are dry, I keep it fully closed.
The vents at the top of the helmet force air across the inside of the visor, keeping it and my glasses fog-free.
I've also taken quite a few hard bug hits on the face shield, for those odd ones that escape over the windscreen.

I always wear a full face helmet with visor to keep the bugs and dust from messing up my eyes...can't imagine not wearing one..besides keeps your head warm and dry on a wet day.

I personally do not feel that any government should regulate my activites unless they harm someone else. I also believe that I can make my own decisions regarding my safety. I also would not even think about riding my motorcycle across a parking lot without a helmet. Let the people who don't want to wear helmets remove themselves from the gene pool (hopefully before breeding).
