hahah good discusion.

well i just told my wife about gas... instead of like 28 i can get about 42-45, plus insurance was 220 a yr so that got me going. plus modding them, all the cars i have i always dump money into (intake, exhaust, rims, tires, sounds, short shifter, cam gears, udp etc all kinds of lil "poo poo")
i tell her look baby with the bike all i really do is exhaust and a couple lil mods here and there other than that its just maintence :)

then it comes down to you have to sell it, you have to let her know that its somthing you really want and its going to make you so happy etc

after all of this, you have to show it to her in person and that was my story

wow I never expected a thread of mine to get to 5 pages lol. I am breaking my wife down. at least I got her to accept that I can have a bike now to get her to accept I want a ducati and that they are 2 seaters and that they do have a bar on the back for the second riders behind :D.

good luck with that although i suppose the "but you can ride with me" thing might work as a selling point. Play the romance thing, like taking rides to go have a picnic in some remote area or something.

If I wasn't into Bikes Jules wouldn't have talked to me.

Right now I am riding her trike, I am expecting to get evicted just as soon as she realises how much fun it is...

You could try the "I love you but this is just something I've got to do..."

It's worked for me in the past. Sadly "I love you but she is someone I've got to do" has never gone down quite as well...

After the divorce, you can ride all you want

in all seriousness though, it looks like she will allways see the bike as "your toy" might help to get one she can ride on with you.
I don't have a wife but what N-Pete said would probably work.

Ducati's are not starter bikes and never will be . For the price of a Ducati , you can get your self a nice bike as well as a car . Even a used Duc is exorbitant .
We had one come in with crate damage to the tank and the cost of replacing the gas tank was $2700 .00 . Not that's ludicrous .

I plan on starting out with something used just not sure what yet.
I agree with my wife and my father that I should start out on something used and not a "crotch rocket" until I get used to driving a bike.
If I was worried about the maintenance cost of something I wouldnt buy a ducati anyways as it is im not worried about the maintenance cost especially when I can do 90% of the work myself.
