What do you guys think of the M50

I'm going to sit on an m50 tomorrow. My final choices are the m50, v-star 650, and the Honda Shadow Spirit 750 (although I would love to try out a Triumph). My wife is going with me this time. After our mos recent fuel bill, she's pushing for me to get a bike soon.

Nova, I sat on all 3 of those bikes and the M50 felt the most comftable to me.

It would be s really good idea to take the wife to see what you look like on them. I know that sounds weird but i am a big guy and my wife said some of the bike looked too small on me even though they felt ok.

I went to the Harley dealer today just to make sure i didn't want a Harley.

I sat on a Sportster and i didn't like it at all. So that ruled that one out. Typical Harley dealer though- all these trophy girls hanging around and oh boy was the salesman smooth.

I looked at the riding gear too. It seemed like just because it said harley on a jacket they would slap on a extra $200!

I am sticking with the M50 for now. Could be buying it on Monday. The bank was meant to have my money ready today but they goofed..

If you can ,get someone to balance the bike so you can get both feet up. Some bikes felt good on the ground but when i tucked my legs on the pegs they felt a little squished on some bikes more than others.

Dear ManCalledNova,, did you say " Triumph"?, don't but that!! They are break down city bikes, get the Suzuki M50 instead, another suggestion, leave ur wife at home, she will say " oh honey, I love the color of this bike better" then all the other rough looking bikers will be in the dealership checking ur wife out and staring at her, any motorcycle dealer isnot the right place for ur wife. I didn't mean any dissrespect but if I had a wife I would keep her away from other bikers.

Do you "know" as much about Triumphs as you "know" about everything else? They must be great bikes then, considering you're wrong about nearly everything else....

If you've got the time, surf through the threads on http://www.triumphrat.net and get some idea of how the Triumph community regards their bikes. There are Triumph dealers in Evansville and Indianapolis, BTW. I can tell you something about Triumph twins, PM if you'd like.

The wife really liked the M50. The problem is, the shop was small and very busy. I could not get a salesperson to come over and help us out. Plus, there were signs on all the bikes that say you can't sit on them. I r-e-f-u-s-e to buy a bike that I can't try out in some form or fashion. I'll probably venture out a little farther to try one out. By the way, I got my motorcycle endorsement on Friday (following the 1 month waiting period).
