I think the issue is that you keep saying you are satisfied with your basic skills...

The reality is that you've got a few thousand miles total riding (2200 on your last bike and less than 1000 on this one, right?) and that's simply not enough time and experience to have "the basics" mastered.

i never claimed i mastered it...

and like i said, i still practice the basics like hard braking, swerving and turning at parking lots each month and sometimes, even more than once a month.

and yes, i don't think i can ever say that i have mastered the basics... but if i don't have to think about it while i ride, then that's good enough for me.

im just saying i feel ready for more advanced stuff since im confident w/ my basics.

i don't have a sensei in riding though.

that's why i wanna attend a track school. that trackday org im interested is actually a school. they even offer testing and certification.

so yeah, when i take the test... they'll decide if im ready to be a level 2 rider or not.

anyway... lots of you guys suggested me getting pro training and i agree... i just need to save up some money for track school.

oh and i get pro training too on skillzday, which i'll attend this saturday... the organizer is a pro rider and he teaches riding.

Ive been riding bikes for 25 years, i thought i knew it all about 10 years ago, when I decided to show disrespect to my skills and the situation i was in at the time. You would be surprised at how quickly a leg can be pulled off your body, as happened to me. Now I ride (every day), although uncomfortably, with the up-most respect for the monster that is underneath my butt, with the regrett that i chose to have a brain fart for a split second that Ill pay for for the rest of my life.

you must, must, take it easy and learn your craft, starting at the basics and work your way up as your experiance grows, everyone does this, even Rossi, and it can take years. Your bike, will kill you, if you do not give it the repect it deserves.

Lots of us (more) suggested that you should practise SLOW SPEED SKILLS. You keep saying that you don't have confidence going through corners. But you claim you are confident in your basic skills. Which is it?

Ohh, and just because I can say this. Gravel doesn't mean you SHOULD crash. That was your fault.

Actually I went on a ride on Tues with Karatechick. She was leading and we went around a right hand turn at the lights at a good pace, about 40kmh, and she was pretty leaned over. Well low and behold maintenance crews had layed down a nice thick coat of those little white gravel rocks. Her back end slipped almost a foot ot the outside of the turn. And I thought for sure she was going down, but whatever she did, she did it right, and the bike just stood back up, despite still being on gravel and she kept on going.

It was very impressive, and remarkably scary to watch.



Which reminds me, YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE A SENSEI FOR RIDING, BUT I WOULD THINK YOU'D BE FREAKING SMART ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO THE ADVISE OF A WHOLE FORUM. No one is telling you to do what you are doing. But nearly everyone else is telling you to do what I've been saying. I don't even understand why you post here anymore.

all im saying is my mistake was a mistake that is very common among new riders.

ok, what you are saying is...

1. practice basics - im already doing this.

2. practice slow speed stuff - ok, i'll add it to my praking lot practice.

3. center myself and don't hang off the bike - im sorry, i can't follow this advice. i do keep my knees inside now.

4. get pro training - i will attend a track school when i get enough money.

what else did i miss?
