He's Texan, just like Dubya. Coincidence?

:cowboy:

Americans had balls and fought for their freedoms 230 years ago. All it takes is a couple of two-bit terrorists for Americans to give up their freedoms. Sad, innit?

PS. I'm probably the one who really derailed this post (Is anyone that sorry?) but I'm moving it to the soap box.

Hey, don't start picking on the Texans. Just cause we mean what we say and are burro enough to back it. I was glad when W stood behind the "comply or else", it was a fresh pace from the previous "I did not have sexual relations..."

While somewhat insensitive, you do think "hmm"

Dude

That is possibly the most insensitive and self rightous remark I have ever heard.
That is possibly the most cowardly and wussiest remark I have ever heard.

No coincidence here. Do not even lump me with George W. Bush. He isn't even a Texan. Get your facts straight, Pasta Boy. He is a fundamental religious fanatic alcoholic drug addict who was born in New Haven, Connecticut, moved to Texas with his parents, then went back to Connecticut when his daddy got him admitted to Yale (which is in New Haven) and Harvard (in Massachusetts), where he didn't learn a damned thing because he was too busy snorting coke, drinking, and evading the draft, or the U. S. budget would be balanced by now instead of recording record deficits. No, George W. isn't even close to being a Texan, he just happens to like living here, just like the other 2/3s of the population who came here from somewhere else.

It sure would be nice if all the foreigners would go back where they came from, but they will not. Do you know why? I will tell you why! Because Texans had the balls to throw off an oppressive Mexican government in 1836 and make Texas a great place to live. Seriously, how many Texans do you find living in Canada, or Connecticut, or Minnesota? One? Two? That should hardly be a surprise since those places simply do not have what it takes to draw immigrants. Heck, everyone knows Yankees dump on Texas because it is so easy to spell, unlike Massachusetts or Minnesota or Connecticut, which are such ponderous collections of disjoint letters it takes Texan brilliance to remember how to spell them, Yankees have to look them up to avoid having their ignorance show.

In case you didn't know, Bush's attempts to limit freedoms are being struck down in courts, one by one. In the United States, we have a means of dealing with tyrants in our government. The process is working, it just takes time. Most United States citizens are mature and educated enough to continue to fight for rights in an effective, respectful, and peaceful, if somewhat time consuming, manner. We might not have a perfect system of government, but we do have the best system yet created by humans. I'm sure God could do better.

qwerty, do you know how many of those rights you listed have been eroded by the PATRIOT Act as well as the DMCA? It's an awful lot.

The politicians are in the pockets of big busines and it'll stay that way until we get some drastic grassroots movements.

Fair enough. You are a prick and need to spend some time in the real world seeing how most of the planets population live.

That straightforward enough for you?

In claiming what are reasonable rights for a dignifed way to live you do not risk yourself being executed and your family suffering for it.

Remember the first Gulf War? Right at the end the Kurds rose to throw the oppression of Iraqi military forces off of them. What happened? The Iraqi military used nerve gas, specifically Mustard gas iirc, wiping out entire communities.
