Haha - you didn't even read your own damn link. There are many more definitions for race and racing than a competition of speed. It is perfectly acceptable use of the word to say that someone who is traveling quickly is "racing around" - and that is what you describe yourself doing often.

Anyone going double the limit on public roads, and passing over double solid yellows deserves to get busted for it. If you don't see the problem with it, congratulations, you're blind.

Indeed. Definition #3 for the intransitive verb "race" is "to run, move, or go swiftly." Definition #3 for the transitive verb "race" is "to cause to run, move, or go at high speed"

when i encounter a slower vehicle... i don't pass them immediately.

i tail them for awhile, see if they'll let me pass. if not, then i pick my spot to pass.

I still think this is a very anti motorcycle story. they say "small percentage" but then proceed to tell the horror stories and show the mangled bikes and what not. They dont spend much time on the ones who dont speed.

this will occur in any area that is a big bike draw. I would hate to see the stats on Deals Gap. like I said, how many of the crashes they talked about are speed related and how many are cages merging into you ect.

Im shocked fox news would do a story like this

I thought they did. The repeated the point and even made one of the more prominent interviewees a guy who has been biking for 50+ years.

Need built in speed limiters on bikes then?

How long til someone started screaming about their rights being infringed upon I wonder....

I personally dont see the point of having a bike that will go over 130 MPH on the street, its illeagle to go that fast on a public road. keep them at the track for the track. remove the limiter when you enter the place, put it back on when ya leave. problem solved?

Frankly, the story is about those who DO speed and crash. The ones who don't aren't news. Thousands of cars and semis drive down I-95 every day. The ones that crash get on the 6 O'clock news.

Well, after viewing that clip, I know a couple of methods that can be used, but not safely for everyone else that rides that road. I do however vote for some cops sitting on the faster corners, with radar guns, and one or two guys with a flatbed at the other end, picking up the ones doing grossly over the limit, such as 20+ over the PSL, and giving out tickets to the others. Before I get flamed for the tickets to everyone, let me say that yeah, I guarantee I'd get a ticket for going 5-10 over, but in no way shape or form would I EVER pass someone on a blind corner going that fast, I'm just not stupid/suicidal...
