My pet peeve is with people who say "interact" instead of "Interac" when talking about bank machines and electronic debit payments. On one occasion at a restaurant the waitress delivered my bill and then asked if I wanted to "interact". I told her no, thanks, I was already with someone - I just wanted to pay the bill and leave. Went right over her head.Loonette wrote:It's really bad when people think that it's "pacific" instead of "specific" or "ax" instead of "ask".
Oops, sorry. Interac is what the online debit card system is called here. In the US I think it's called the Cirrus network...?CentralOzzy wrote:Never heard of Interac....that must be a Canadian thing?
That's not usually as bad as 'Their' 'There' and 'They're' though.blues2cruise wrote:Another common improper use of grammar is "your" and "you're".
So many people write "your" instead of "you're". Why? Is it just laziness or do people really not know the difference?
