Seriously! I'd lay money on the bird walking away relatively unscathed while I picked myself up out of the ditch (abjectly apologizing for every Thanksgiving meal I've ever enjoyed) if I ever had to go bike to beak with a turkey or goose.

Assuming you didn't get immediately bucked you could probably ride that out pretty easily. You'd be impressed what you can ride over. Lean back

I suspect it would depend on the position of the bird at time of impact. If the bugger is low enough, sure...

I was envisioning one that had just taken off though... one about 5 feet in the air... y'know: Bird-in-face height.

Well, if you seriously get hit square in the face by a 20+ pound turkey at any real speed I think the only people picking you up will likely be the coroner.

I was just saying have a little faith. Assuming your head doesn't get torn off by the bird, dog, etc and it plants itself into the front of the bike you're not for sure screwed.
