The original Katana(which looks like it was crossed with an early Gixxer to create this bike) was a twinshock er for the first few years.

Yeah... that really is a sexy, sexy bike! I wanted one so bad the first time I saw it that I actually tried to figure out a way I could get it here and ride it on the street legally. Then I realized it would be easier just to move to Japan instead...

I've been trying to figure out how to do the same thing with a WWII Harley or Indian. There are a ton of 'em just sittin' around EU but they can't be imported into the US because of DOD laws... you can't bring any vintage US military equipment back into the the US once it's left the states.

I don't see the Katana in there at all.... Now they did make a reproduction Katana400 in Japan a few years ago that looked amazing. I'm sure that it is just a matter of time......afterall we did get the ZRX.....

I only seee the Kat in the chassis. That home market 400 Kat they made was very cool, I guess they sold a ton of them. But only a few made it out of Japan, and most of them went to OZ. We struck out again......

Great thread here, interesting to see what people have on their minds. As for me and the wife, this is an easy to answer thread. What should the big manufacturer's make? ANY of the current bikes but with a seat height under 30". My wife wants a new bike and it's driving her aboslutley nuts that all the great bikes we read about are just too big for her to sit on. Checked out several sites for short riders, almost all recommend all the entry-level bikes. Yamaha, Honda, kawai, Suzuki, are you reading this? Make a 919 or Bandit or SV with a 29" seat hieght and you'll tap into a huge (albeit not tall) market. Entry level seat height but with high-end quality. Seems the europeans get a lot more of the cool choices.


here's a great example, the Yamaha Fazer. This is a euro model, 1995. Low seat, great power, and it's doesn't look like all the other bikes out there anymore.

Found it V4............at last Yes the baby brother of the VMax, they should definately build, there are a few people I know would love to have one but they are hard to come by, or they're 20yrs old. It is a good all rounder, I put my suggestion in 2006 Yamaha. Good for touring, good on the take off, especially after derestriction, ie. 0 - 100mph in 2nd gear in a few seconds handles nice on bends, and if you want to give it some welly, the power is there. In fact Japan still makes these bikes, they just dont seem to be exported. Why? here is pic of our 1997 version, and that whoopi cushion on the back is my Gel seat pad. [/url]

You guys mean '95 and '97 versions right? They didn't still sell them over there for that long did they???

Apparently not in the States, but ours is a japanese import and 5 speed.
