My dad had a terrible bike accident about 7-8 years before I was born (so early 70s). A drunk in a truck pulled out in front of him on his way home from work one night, and my dad spent several days in a coma, and several months in the hospital while his legs - broken in several places - and wrists healed.

As a result, motorcycles were verboten in our household and I grew up fearing them.

When I turned 15/16, and entered my hellion years, I had a boyfriend who had a bike (a Shadow 400). He talked me into riding behind him one time and I was terrified.

We eventually broke up, and I started dating another guy with a bike. He had an 96 CBR 600 F3; his roommate had a 96 GSXR 600- the first sportbikes I had ever seen. Sooooooo sexy-looking. I rode behind that boyfriend one time - and was terrified. I told him that, if he wanted me to ride, he'd have to teach me... and he did.

I was.... 18. Taken the MSF course twice, and just got certified as a RiderCoach (only female, and only non-military/police in the course). So, I've been riding a little over 11 years now and haven't looked back since.

That is very cool. :) I have had my 650 V-Star for 4 years now....I enjoy it.....I have no problem hanging out with folks with big bikes....cause I'm not looking for status.....just fun on 2 wheels...
