Centrifugal force will keep a bike moving and upright but you are correct in that the rider has to trust in that like death and taxes.

Hold your line and push on that bar....and don't panic.

Not going into a turn too hot to begin with is where I should be in the first place.

For me I will go down shift.

It is safety than the two and you can come up when you shift up on the straight.

We need to remember also one thing our safeness.

it is useless to win if you get damage and never drive again.

Downshifting in a too fast entry speed situation will likely highside you (the rear tire will lose traction and then suddenly grab again pitching you off violently).

better to maintain steady throttle (even if the engine is almost lugging) and just lean the bike over further and shift your weight inside, steady throttle + sharp turn = the bike is going to scrub off some speed anyway.

Sometimes being Highside is not so bad though......
