Yeah...err...from 1am to 3am....Don't know why....
One person has a set of keys in case of emergency, and to unlock the doors when the other workers show up...

Maybe there's some state law where the retail shop has to have its doors locked for a certain period, so ensure they are closed or something.
Seen weirder laws...cant imagine it would be legal to lock your employees into your building. I hope the fire escape doors are not locked.

I actually don't think they are locked (the fire exits that is). I think the locking the doors is more for loss prevention than anything else.
Since there are only like 4 people in the store in the morning (mostly stocking stuff), it would be really easy for someone to come in a steal a bunch of stuff.

So i decided to ask the experienced bikers. Have any of you guys ever gotten in any trouble for parking your bike where it obviously shouldn't be parked?
When I worked in Philadelphia, we used to park our bikes along the bicycle racks in front of our building. Any one who rode and worked in the area parked here also. Once in a while some rookie cop would get a bug up his butt and ticket everyone but we were usually safe there. No one complained and it sure beat parking on the back streets. You knew your bike would be there when you left for home.

People should understand that we like to park close to a busy structure because idiots like to mess with bikes more than they do cars.
You'd think people would understand and be more sympathetic to that point.

Not only that but unlike cars, we are saving wear and tear on the roads and streets not to mention cutting down on congestion.
Now if everyone would just get rid of their cars and ..................................... Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

This might be off topic but just to give any new riders a heads up, when you park between cars in a parking lot I would recommend parking the bike near the end of the space because I have heard horror stories of people flying into parking spaces and hitting bikes because they thought the spot was empty.[/quote]

For Bikers who will soon be riding into downtown Toronto!!!
As of October 2005, parking in downtown Toronto, Ontario is free!!

Motorcycle parking
Operators of motorcycles will benefit from a decision to give them free parking on Toronto streets. Council agreed to amend City bylaws in order to exempt motorcycles from parking fees at on-street parking meters/machines. The rationale is that parking receipts tend to disappear from parked motorcycles, resulting in unwarranted parking fines. Council also wants the Toronto Parking Authority to consider designating areas for motorcycle parking at its parking lots.
Bills 912 to 926 amend the various parking by-laws to permit motorcycles to park, where on-street parking is lawfully allowed, at an angle, but not more than sixty degrees to the curb..
Kudos to the Toronto City Council

Finally! A city with a bit of common sense. If all city were as intelligent as Toronto, this would be a better world. (small steps)
