Snows gonna start flying and well I ride to work at night and with temps starting to dip into the high 30's low 40's at night im leaving the bike at home and driving to work so I can drive home in a nice warm vehicle. I am getting lazy in my "older" age (yes I know im only 31).
well my first year riding I rode when it was 14F outside. now im just too lazy to put all that gear on to stay warm. If it involves more than my jacket and thermal underwear its not time to ride lol.

It's been a few weeks since I've visited my friends here at TMW - still concentrating on healing, have some setbacks with a brand new infection to battle now. But, it seems like I have gotten the edge on it now - which is good. went from two crutches, to one, to cane, back to one, then back to two with the infection - painful as hell!

On the up side, since I'm still not riding for a while, I needed to keep myself busy, so meet my newest friend and companion...

rescue dog from VA, 36lbs, 8 mos, probable mix of border collie, beagle, and dachshund ... he's surprisingly mellow and gentle, and a good 'blue' friend from here suggested that when I get a 'new' bike next season, a sidecar is in order, for my newest pal. I think that's an awesome idea :)

Anyway, hope everyone here is well, and on the east coast as winter approaches, everyone keeps their rubber side down!

Titanium vs. me = ME! broke/bent/sheared 5-7 of the screws holding my ankle together.
:(

back to NO weight bearing, can i tell you how much i HATE CRUTCHES???

I know, I should be happy I still have my leg, and I am, but dammit, this sucks!

I really need to take it easy, but it's much harder now that I'm back to work full time - and their patience is seriously thin.

here's the picture. For fun, compare it to the earlier one.

at least the Dr. said my ankle is still in the correct position and is healing, even though i totally killed the hardware.

hope everyone else is doing well...

Well, it's been 4 months since I've checked in - I see lots of new names floating around, as well as the oldies and goodies. My recovery has had a number of bumps and bruises - the newest is that my left leg is now shorter due to the accident - but apparently only the TIBIA is shorter, and not the fibula which means that my walk and balance are still screwy, and unless it gets fixed (and I'm not sure yet how to do that) my back, neck and all sorts of things will get messed up.

The bike is gone - not worth fixing, and now i will apparently have yet aNOTHER season to save up for the next one - if I ever finish healing ... I miss riding!

Will know more after surgeon's appt this week.

Thanks everyone!

So, the surgeon appt goes something like this...

surgeon: Can you live with it?

me: you mean crappy balance and not walking right?

surgeon: yes. How much does it bother you?

me: well, not that much yet - i'm only out of the boot two weeks now

surgeon: ok then.

me: ok, then what?

surgeon: the correction for the shortening and slight rotation of your foot is the same now as it will be in a year.

me: ummm, ok, but what IS the correction?

surgeon: We go back in, saw through the ankle, rebreaking it, put in new posts and screws, and start all over again.

me: #^&@! The physical therapist said that it will really mess up my hips back and neck...

surgeon's resident (quiet until now): maybe you should get another physical therapist?

surgeon: seriously, if it begins to cause problems for you, we will re-evaluate and talk about options. Why don't we wait, you continue to heal and strengthen your leg and ankle and I'll see you in 3 months.

me: ^8#@ ...

I agree with the getting of a new surgeon.
