Moto Guzzi's engines still use pushrods.

Although on that bike, the oil filler cap is on the right side of the bike, while the window to check the oil level is on the left.
This has got to be the worst design ever... I had not ridden my bike for a while (FZ6) and I took it to the DMV before going on my ride since I needed to register it. So, I happend to leave the keys in with the bike in the on position. I know, daft as ever, but it happens.

So, I have to not only half remove the gas tank, but remove two pieces of the fairing to get to the battery because it was dead as a doornail when I was finished (in not too long a time) at the DMV.

My wife comes I have everything open, we jump it - and then ... One of the screws has broken the brittle plastic on the fairing and I can't get it all together quickly. I get an engine light (I assume for sitting in one place for too long). Its been running for a little while so I turn it off finish putting it back together and it doesn't start....

My wife comes back, jumps me (after I remove all the parts) - then I put it back together and don't worry about the offending screw - which apparently isn't necessary to hold the fairing on tight(!)

PIMA! Of course if I hadn't been daft it wouldn't have been an issue. I do have a connector for my air pump and slow charger, but I didn't have a wire to connect it to my wife's car for a jump. Which reminds me I should get that cable so I don't have trouble the next time I am daft... It might not be so far away.

Exact same issue with a Triumph Trophy. It's a two-person job, one to steady the bike and one to look at the sight glass.
By B-King was like that too.

I get to resurrect my own thread....neato.....

Got a minor cooling problem on the Connie, seems the rad cooling fan is not coming on, not a problem when at speed and as long as I shut the engine off at lights (I know, not a good idea) I can keep the engine coolant temps well within the safe range....however, I did note two design flaws. I wanted to check my fuses to see if one had blown, only to get at the jbox aka fuse box, you have to remove your saddle and unscrew the left side panel.....and to check the coolant level in the radiator, it is best if you remove the entire gas tank. I have yet to look at getting at the actual cooling fan, I remember looking at the procedure in my Haynes manual, and recall you first have to start off with sacrificing a virgin to the Motorcycle gods.
