I'd like to wave to everyone. A little hesitant to wave to cruisers cuz they rarely wave back :|

I'm still new but I'm getting better at determining when it's a good time to wave, but one time I was at a red light and several bikers were coming from my left turning right and we all caught each others eye. I raised my left hand to waved to them and looked like a complete fool when my bike lurched forward and stalled  D'oh!! Now when my hands are occupied I nod

Don't worry about it. I guarantee ya everyone of those other bikes' riders has either done the same thing or will do it. The only people that never make dumb mistakes are the ones that only ride their bikes around the block...... and who cares what they think??

I wave...the first time it happened, I was riding on a residential street and saw a rider coming in the opposite direction. I had one of those "what do I do" moments and so at the last second, I lifted my hand, spread my fingers, and made what most possibly the goofiest wave I'd ever done in my life (on of off the bike). I didn't get on back and felt pretty stupid about that.

I've noticed that people generally keep waves low - either a flash of the fingers, or a movement of the arm. From what I've seen, waves are never above the handlebars; they're either out to the side or lower down.

I felt great when I saw a large group of riders in my town the other day - must have been a bike day or something. I waved at every group of cruisers I saw, tossed a few nods as well, and got quite a few back when they were able to give them. I felt like part of a community at that point, and it was honestly a pretty cool feeling.

Something in this post has been bugging me.

Your right fist? You sure about that? I guess you clutch in when you do so, huh? Seems a bit dangerous...

I caught my first wave on a daytrip yesterday. First thought that he was just extending out his left arm to stretch it out, I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes. After the second rider did it I got the concept. Since I practice the Jeep wave it should have been obvious to me...

Try to wave all the time

Miss a few if I am looking back and miss the guy coming the other way

Even Wave in the jams when travelling between the queues.

Haha, this thread reminds me of this Mordeth13 video. Some of you have probably already seen it, but it's pretty funny.

I'm kinda inbetween the first two options. I'll wave as long as it's not in a turn, traffic conditions dont really play into it.

I pretty much just wave at cruisers... every now and then I wave at street bikers but I never get a response. Are they afraid of me?
