Some great pics Blues. Loved the look of the great wide open spaces, makes a big contrast to the ol' sardine can back here in the UK, where everything looks pocket sized, by comparison. I liked the look of roads where you can see some of the tarmac instead of endless lines of cars.

I happened to be at Jericho Beach at coffee break time this afternoon. I decided to take a little walk on the sand and see what the ocean and mountains looked like.
There were a few families out enjoying the sun and old couples in their lawn chairs and someone enjoying an afternoon nap on the grass.

When I told someone about the pictures from today and that I was going to share them...especially to show the Michigan folks.... ...they said I was mean.

So there you have what is a perfect early fall day in Vancouver.

After work, dr_bar came by to pick me up on his flashy yellow Valkyrie and took me over to Pacific Yamaha to pick up my bike. I took it in a bit earlier than the mileage suggested, but I decided to get its 25,000 km service before we left for the road trip. So, my blue star now has nice fresh oil and new sparkplugs, and the steering bearings cleaned and regreased.....the people who know how to do all that work themselves sure do save themselves a whack of money.
I can see why the dealers are sometimes called stealers. At $88.00 an hour for shop labour it adds up.
I suppose it's a small price to pay to know my bike is in tip top shape before I head out.

I have had a cold for almost 2 weeks now. I was worried I might have to cancel my trip, but so far it hasn't progressed to far. I only had to miss one day of work and I think that day of rest helped. I was in air conditioning today and the cold air has hurt my chest and brought on a cough. Heck...after the bad bout of bronchitis in the spring, I can't even eat ice cream any more without coughing. I can't have any cold drinks either.
Going out in the cold air is now a no-no for me. Normally I like the colder months around here, but I guess with this chest weakness, I'll have to be careful. Maybe I can wear a balaclava to work.

Because of my current condition, dr_bar and I will not be heading east. We are going to head south where the air won't be so cold.
We are leaving on Saturday morning. I suspect I will have some great pics to share when I get back.

Actually, those beach pictures could've almost been taken at the Traverse City beach...it's just more mountain-ey than here.

Also warmer. We're in the "50* and rainy all week" phase of the year.

So the bottom picture is standing on the south shore of the inlet, looking north across the inlet at the city of West Vancouver? The Straits are out towards your left somewhere?

Everytime I see your pictures of Vancouver I miss it a little more. If only it were more feasable to move there!

Yes, that is correct. Yesterday there were only 3 or 4 freighters sitting in the water. Some days there are over a dozen.

Did you used to live here at some point or were on vacation here?

The next time I plan a vacation I won't let people talk me out of my plans. The weather was so great for the first two weeks of October, I could have gone to Alberta.
Oh well, next June for sure.

Today I went riding with 7 other people for a lunch ride to Boston Bar. We went through Pitt Meadows to pick up a rider on the way and then through Maple Ridge to to Mission (via hwy 7) to meet up with the rest.

The early morning was foggy and cold and the roads were a little slick. By the time we got to Mission the fog was burning off to reveal brilliant sunshine and clear blue skies.

After a quick coffee to warm up and a top up of the gas tank, we headed for Hope. That was the first pit stop. A few of us had a "fake" capuccinno there while the smokers had their nic fix.
We left Hope to get onto Hwy 1 through Yale, Spuzzum, Hell's Gate ( the fish ladder) through the 7 tunnels and on to Boston Bar.

After lunch we headed back and stopped for fuel in Agassiz. We made decent time getting back to Pitt Meadows where we stopped in for a refreshment before Dawn and I headed back toward Vancouver.
