I ordered custom wheels for my road bike.

1470 grams for both front and rear. Should be much lighter than my stock wheels.

Yesterday after work, I got my new rear tyre put on, much better now. Had to scrub off the shine, so went for a ride on the back roads of the Delta flats. Also had a new speedometre cable put on, so now I know just how badly I am teasing the Speed Tax Collectors.....very badly it seems. I usually cruise the highways at 5000 RPM in sixth gear, apparently that equates into 150 KPS as shown on the speedometre. What I would really like to do is find a bike friendly copper with a radar gun to help me calibrate the speedo, be nice to know exactly how far off it is. Today I went to the All British Classic Car Show held at the VanDusen Botanical Gardens. It was a beautiful hot sunny day for it, which is odd because its sort of a tradition in BC that the skies turn grey, rainy and cold over the Victoria Day long weekend. The show was pretty good, lots of old British motors, however the bike part of the show was rather disappointing and badly under represented. There was not one Vincent to be seen and I know for a fact that there are at least three of them running around the area. I will up load photos to my blog later.

I spent the day working in the yard. Here's some advice for any of you out shopping for a new house -- NO PINE TREES!! If there's a pine tree in the yard, think of that like the realtor saying "Yeah, it's so cheap because the dad murdered the whole family in the basement and then lit himself on fire.."

Seriously, a pine tree dumps "poo poo" on your yard every season of the year. Needles in the winter, pine cones in the spring and fall, and pine pollen all summer long. Guy at work asked me the other day, "Wow, that gold flake on your bike is really fine, how'd you do that?" "Three pine trees in the yard," I replied. No, not really, but it coulda happened.

On the upside, my eight year old daughter proved herself more than handy with a lawn mower today, so I think maybe that's her job from now on. (-:

We're driving down to Cedar City in Southern Utah tomorrow to see the eclipse. Cedar City is smack in the middle of the 'path of totality', so it'll be a full-on movie type eclipse. We bought solar viewing strips from the local planetarium and everything. Pics should be on the blog eventually, maybe Tuesday. Monday, I've got a trailer fulla pine needles and pine cones and pine salad and pine kabob and skewed pine and fried pine and baked pine to take to the dump.

I'll also throw in that grass will never grow under a pine tree. The needles are poisonous to other plants, and to animals. (Whenever you need proof of that, poke yourself with a bunch of needles in the same area, you'll notice the red inflammation.)

Was planning on going for a bit of a nice ride today, but the Vancouver Victoria Day Long Weekend tradition of rain hit, so stayed home.

I rode to Duffy Lake and back and rode around a back road of Pemberton for while

500km.

It was a long, but satisfying day....
