I do love pumpkins and pumpkin pie... did I ever tell you the story of how I got a pub in London to make pumpkin pie for us on Thanksgiving?

That's awesome, but I've never heard that story.
I want to go to England someday for the 4th of July.
Maybe find a pub that serves Sam Adams beer.

In regards to the pumpkins... My grandma told me a few years ago that they actually grow certain species of pumpkins specifically for cooking/pies/etc, while the others are for carving and blowing apart with high powered firearms.

My mom made pumpkin pie with just about any squash we had growing in the garden, you couldn't tell the difference...

Pie pumpkins are usually smaller and less stringy than the gigantic ones.
