I understand where you are coming from. 2200 miles isn't enough experience for someone to be trying to do some of the things he has talked about doing. I think that if he spends enough time in the parking lots practicing he can get out of the stage that he is in. And sometimes people have to learn the hard way to learn anything. Thats why I think that he needs to go to a super bike school and keep these things that he talks about on the track and not on the canyon roads. And who knows red and black may be his colors, any other color may not appeal to him. I can understand that I hate kawi green.

+1. Verm, I like your spirit but you tend to have a very foolish approach to motorcycling. It's more about being flashy and looking cool than actually being good. Step 1 was starting on a literbike. Step 2 was forgoing everyone's advice to take some riding classes and instead buying stuff that shows a "racer's approach to cornering." This is your big chance to correct all this and all you can say is "I don't want to be seen on a non RR bike." You could buy an EX500 or GS500 or something and LEARN TO RIDE but instead you want something that people will think you look cool on...

Not trying to attack you or anything but the only thing that seperates you from the average squid is that you use leathers...the attitude is the same...

Get an SV650s, riding position is the same as an RR bike, but much more forgiving than even the Gixxer 600



you can even get it in red and black.

there is a reason why the SV650 is the most popular track bike of all time.

you can also get lower fairings for it. The SV650s looks pretty good with the lowers on it.

Verm, I'm not going to rail on you, after all I don't know you and I'm new here but I have to make some observations. For a guy whose posting number is almost as large as the miles on his bike, you don't appear to be at all interested in what other forum members have to say. This narcissistic attitude, as shown in both your posting and riding..."habits"... is going to bite you in the a$$ eventually. I think you've been REALLY lucky so far...

If you think people are being overly harsh here, I suggest you go check out these guys at http://bayarearidersforum.com and talk to them about your sportbiking "career".

well, i guess i have to ride w/ somebody here.

that way, they can report how i ride.

im not a reckless rider but maybe it comes out that way in my post.

couple of things though, when i said i wanna drag knee... i clearly stated that i wanna do it on a parking lot.

im not interested in stunting on public roads either.

some people here even commend me for choosing to go w/ a 600 instead of another 1000.

anyway... yeah, i wanna ride w/ some of the guys here. i can probably learn a thing or two from them and then i'll have somebody here who can vouch for my riding attitude.

also, what's wrong w/ havng a preference? if im gonna spend big money, i better make sure the thing i buy is something i really want.

riding to me is many things and i would like to be saitisfied in all of those in order to fully enjoy riding.

roads - the road i ride must be fun.

people - they must be fun too and i hope to learn from them as i ride w/ them.

bike - the bike i ride must be something i like.

weather - i can ride in bad weather and have done it several times. but if i have a choice i'd sit out of riding in bad weather.

that's about some of it from the top of my head.

I don't get why everyone is jumping on verm. He is going with the 600 instead of the 1000, that's a huge step right there, that by itself surprised me. And who cares if he wants to get a bike in red/black? I wouldn't want to spend that much money on a bike I didn't like anyway. Because he's coming from a 1000, the 600 might even seem docile to him, if he could control the 1000, he'll probably be able to control the 600. And who says 2k miles isn't enough to learn ride? How much is enough? 10k? 20k? 50k?

Going from a 1000 RR bike to a 600 RR bike is like going from an F-22 to an F-16 jet. They're both rockets, just one is slightly more "rocket-ish". That isn't a "huge" step at all, it's still an RR bike.

And I don't really think he could "control" the 1000. He could stay up on it without crashing (most of the time at least) but that doesn't mean he has control of the thing. He's holding it at bay for the moment...

You don't have to spend "big money" on a bike. Get a used smaller bike and learn on it, then get your dream ride. That's what I'm doing. Similarly to you I want a Gixxer 600 or a YZF-R6, but I'd rather develop the skills to use the bike to it's full potential and then take that step...

im sure "holding it at bay" as you say it is part of control. and besides, i would be stupid to let out its full power on public roads.

anyway... i don't wanna talk about my previous bike anymore, it just makes me sad.
