High_Side, that is the beautiful thing about riding, isn't it? The fact that a guy gets a bike that I prefer, then blatantly wants the original bike back. These bikes get a hold of something in us and makes a connection. That is what motorcycling is all about. I want another FZR600 Yamaha, and I've had a new 636! I loved my BMW R1100S and miss it dearly (BTW, if someone wants a semi-sporty twin they absolutely need to at least try a BMW R1100S)! I had a ZX-9R through all the magazines rating it dead last and loved it the entire time! And possibly funniest of all is the fact that the most pleasure I've ever gotten from a motorcycle (including racing WERA in 1990 and 1991) was from riding my 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600!!! Motorcycling is ultimately the BEST release there is. Thanks for the banter.

I'm pretty similar with my, um, stage tastes in bikes. :P I've even recently been scopeing out picking up a CX650E similar to what I had 20 years ago because it was such a fun bike.....go figure again. I just checked the local Triumph dealer site and THEY DO HAVE TEST RIDES this weekend! I'm going to give the new speed-3 and Sprint a go. I'll let you know how it turns out....

High_Side, I just got in from a ride...rode with my buddy with the Speed Triple. We talked about this thread a little and the consensus is the same. He loves his triple, I love my ZRX, and we all love the SuperHawk! Let me know how your test rides go. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience. Oh, a friend had a CX650 for a while...what a cool bike. His was nice and stylish in a black color, with plenty of torque to scoot around with. It sounded cool and was a lot of fun to ride...he's the guy with the SV1000S now. If you can find one in good shape for a good deal wouldn't it be cool to have another! Let me know about the Triumph ride!!!!

LCC, you must not be in the U.S. no? The CX-E was never imported there. It was good fun when I was 16 and I toured down there on mine. I had a lot of people come over to see what the hell kind of bike I was riding  Jmillheiser, I'll keep my eyes peeled for one that you can buy up here. Then I'll ride it to Wyoming for a small fee.... :P
The damned test rides were already booked when I called so I am on the waiting list. It's the one and only ride in town this year.....frig. The Sprint ST might be a no-go for everyone as they crashed it when putting on break in miles......better them then me! Hopefully I can still at least get to ride one of them.....

Crashed it, eh? Too bad. How much would you like to bet someone forgot about mold release film on those shiny new tires?

Happened last summer to a fella on a fresh SV1000S during a demo in Regina. The crew then took the time to remind all the other riders of this fact.

High_Side, I am indeed in the U.S. My buddy had a CX650 that was a cruiser-style bike with the v-twin mounted perpendicular to the frame. I don't know if that was the 'E' version you are speaking of, but it was to our knowledge not a grey-market bike or something special brought in. Maybe it was....now he'll be even more upset he got rid of it!

Good luck on the Trumpet test ride! Let me know if you sneak one in!!! We are doing about a 300-mile day ride tomorrow so all is well in the universe!!

High_Side, Go to BikePics.com and look under 'Bikes By Model' and look under Honda Road Bikes for the Honda CX650. It has about three model years' pictures posted. The bike like my buddy had is quite the different animal than the bike you had...his is like the black bike from the 1983 set...clearly not like the sporty bike you had...but cool nonetheless.

I've seen lots of the Custom models that you had in the US and they were cool for their own reasons. This one I found when I went to Bikepics.com was exactly like mine:

High_Side, what a cool bike! I'd love to have one like that! There are a lot of subtle details there...look at those wheels, the chrome radiator shroud, etc.!!! That bike just oozes cool! Good luck getting another!!!
