yeah, people here sell civic hatchbacks for higher price since it's popular.

like i said, i've seen others go for around the same price and they look a lot worse.

that one looks clean inside and out. it ran great when we test drove it.

but still, i don't wanna buy it w/o a mechanic's approval.

if the mechanic doesn't approve of that car. i'll try plan B and just get another bike and see if it'll work out.

Actually I do, I guess we're back to the image thing

you can get a good running car for a grand or under that will get the job done.

all the cars under a grand i've seen here are really old and have so many problems but i dunno how it is where you live.

and my life was just fine until i got into a car accident and bike theft. fate has been cruel to me lately.

If that civic has mods, it will have more problems than an unmodded civic. The mechanic is more or less just going to tell you whether its running okay and if it needs any repairs. Its not designed to go fast, and all that stuff throws its engine completely off spec. That doesnt exactly spell 'reliable'.

That civic is for a 16yo whos daddy used a tax refund to pay in cash so his kid can feel like he owns a fast racecar and will be resold when he graduates. Daddy knows that his kid really drives a crummy old econobox, so they are both happy.

Find a civic without mods and you will be happier with the car. No offense V but you are not making good choices. You just wasted money on your bike, you want to buy another one for what, 9k and also buy a 5k car? You have 2k in the bank and an unstable job, and you're in school, and you want to finance 14k worth of vehicles. And hows your credit card debt looking? How are you paying for school? Loans? More debt?

That 2k in the bank will last you 1 month of living expenses if you lose your job, if you are lucky. Man, you wonder why you are having such a bad year...its your choices.

So get an unpopular car. You are obsessed with impressing people.

I'd go for that Volvo personally. Not a diesel though I'm guessing.

i think my credit is ok.

when i went to buy a bike, they said i buy any bike in the showroom floor. but i don;t fully believe him since there are ducatis on the floor.

like i said, i won't buy another bike unless i'll have some money leftover in case i lose my job.

im not too much concerned about impressing other people but i like to get a car that looks impressive to me.

civic hatchbacks looks cool to me, modded or not, it doesn't matter to me.

also, the engine on that civic is not stock and i believe it is capable to run harder. i dunno all the details, my friend is the one who knows more about cars and mods.

*edit* I deleted my own rant.

Verm. You can't afford to look impressive. just get something that runs and move on with your life. I said it to I Fly and i'll say it to you - If you get a car based on whether or not it strokes your ego, you need psychological help. You have time to be impressed later when you ahve more of the Green stuff.

If you keep goin the way you are, that time ain't ever gonna come. :|

problem with civics around here and i am sure it is the same elsewhere (especially the obviously modded ones) is that the parts are in demand and they are pretty easy to rip off, so they get stolen/broken into A LOT.

hopefully this one doesn't scream out that it has mods, like having Mugen stickers on it and crap like that.

you are gonna do what you want anyway, but most of the advice i have seen has been pretty much on target.

i dunno but what i do know is that i'll be paying an extra $3000 interest in six years.

bike was sold to me for 10600, went up to 13K after all the taxes, registration, and warranties.

i was paying $152/month on it bec i made 5K down.

i better get close to 5K from the insurance.

they valued the bike at 9600, im gonna complain about that. the bike's only 4 months old when it was stolen and nope, they don't know that i crashed.

You...dont know what your interest rate was?

1k depreciation off the lot? You think thats unreasonable? Depreciation is HUGE on new vehicles. Thats life. Thats why they sell GAP, to cover initial depreciation if your down payment doesn't cover it.

I can go buy a brand new car for cash right now, drive it home, resell it and I'd lose a few thousands bucks.

Did you read my post about risk management and vehicle depreciation? Read it.

Sounds like you're going to exhaust your savings on all this and end up with a junky 11 year old car and upsidedown on a bike that will end up costing you twice what you paid. Swell.

Do you even know what your credit score is? Have you ever looked at your credit report from all 3 agencies? Do you know what you are paying in interest compared to others on the market with your credit? I bet you dont know any of that, and you just listen to what the salesman tells you. Here's a tip, if you can afford a $300 car payment, buy a car with a $200 car payment and pay $300 a month, and make sure its a simple interest loan (most of them are). 1) they prorate the payment but still put the excess into the principle, so if you have an emergency and you cant pay the car on time, you're free and clear. Plus you save tons on interest in the longrun.

V, managing your money isnt easy. Managing your credit isnt easy. Getting into debt and ruining your credit, thats easy.
