The same kind of person who calls a complete stranger a "squid" for
not wearing a helmet. I gotta say, it's pretty damn funny to see the reaction to this incident. I mean, how dare he judge someone's personal choice...

I don't understand why you make the implication that I or anyone else holds a double standard.
Do I think people who don't wear helmets are either dumb or irresponsible? Yes.
Would I go up to them (someone I don't know,,,a stranger) and just insult them at random?
No.

No.
Maybe you wouldn't, I don't know - you're new here. However, this being a public forum and a reoccurring debate, I felt the need to address this in a general sense. Threads are created here all the time to discuss the actions of a perfect stranger seen riding without a full race suit on. Again, the guy was an asshat for making the remark. But this is the first time I've seen the tables turned, and the reaction here is rather interesting.

Well duh... let's see, as a motorcyclist which makes more sense since it has been proven that helmets save lives... insulting someone who doesn't care about dying, doesn't care how his/her family will feel if they die, and doesn't care about how bikers in general will be perceived when one more is dead causing all the media know-nothings to go crazy about how dangerous motorcycles are... OR insulting someone who does care about all of those things...

but that kid who insulted cylax is just aking for it.
In some neighborhoods that is akin to stepping on someone's Puma's.

It's also been proven that cars are safer than motorcycles. I don't suppose a semi-regular thread popping up calling bikers a bunch of idiots would get under your skin after a while?
Wear your damn helmet and let me be, lest the debate continue.

But it really annoyed me while I was visiting California that I had to wear hemet to ride two blocks away. I wish every state allowed the rider to choose, and I wish every rider respected the others choices.
I also wish every state allowed lane-sharing...
Same thing happened to me when I crossed over into GA, for the first time It bothered me to wear it, knowing that I HAD to wear it. It's nice to have a choice, everyone should be given that and have it respected.

I don't think anyone here would just walk up to someone and say, "you're an idiot for not wearing a helmet."
I'd tell them what I thought if they asked. IF they ASKED.
But you don't throw "poo poo" like that around.

Alittle off topic but I had a guy try to get me to race his cage today. I think everybody here would agree that a GS500F will out run any four cylender out there. But I am not going to put my new bike into a situation that could possibally cause damage to it. It took me too long to save up to get my bike. The question is why would I do something stupid that might hurt it.

It turned into a gear debate...
For the original post, I wouldn't take anything too seriously from a guy who's best insult is to call you "gay". What was he, like 14 or so?
And as long as I'm talking... m1a1dvr, I agree with you. Whenever someone tells me I should do a burnout I have to decline because the tires are really the most important part of the bike as far as I'm concerned, and I'm not wealthy enough to buy new ones every couple weeks just for 20 seconds of entertainment. If people can't understand that, they can get their own bike and abuse it all they want!
