Hearing loss is no fun and I may have lost some sensetivity in my right ear (went from sea-level to the mountains with an ear infection and the change in pressure might have done permanent damage) but I'll have to get it checked out to see if its just another infection (the 4th in two years) or permanent.

What I use for headphones are Shure e3c 's http://www.stereophile.com/headphones/504shure/
and they do an awesome job of blocking out unwanted noise. So if you want to use them as earplugs or listen to music on the road I would spring for a pair. The price is a little steep though...

I use shure ear plugs as well, the last model before those you linked just came out, so they will only run you around $70 or so instead of $170.

Best thing I did for my ears.

Really now? Next time I'm in the US I'll have to pick up a pair for when these break (the climate is hell on the seals and electronics in general, has to do with the humidity and heat) and maybe even spring for the custom molds... would be nice.
