Every pre-Christian European culture and more than a few elsewhere have some form of "horned god" mythos. Quite common. Pan for the Greek, Kernunnos for the Celts, Thor (believe it or not) for the Norse, etc, etc.

Newbie question...

In the video, he said cruisers that see sport bikes give the one-finger wave. How true is that? I've only ridden for a month, but I can see the attraction of riding cruisers as well as sport bikes. And I have no animosity towards either group (except squids). How wrong would it be if I was on a cruiser and gave a normal wave to a sport-biker or vice-versa? Would I get a butt whoopin' from a third biker in the same class as I? Maybe it depends on the region; I'm in NorCal.
Never had anyone give me the one fingered salute so far, but recently ive seen a few cruisers refuse to wave back at me. But I'd say 85% have waved back at my green ninja.

Now scooter riders! Talk about stuck up!
Na, I just think they are in awe that a motorcycle waved at them and freeze up trying to process what just happened.

Yo, Koss, it's okay, man. Seriously, answering one's self is called self-talk, and it's supposed to be good for you. Now, arguing with your self is another thing entirely.

Some people wave, some don't. I only wave if they do, just to be polite. Drop the hand down and to the side, palm forward. No biggie. Doesn't matter to me one way or another if someone waves, or doesn't. I ride because I like to ride (even on iced roads and during severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings).

I think the biker "wave" came from bikers back in the 50's and 60's when bikers were not thought of so nicely. They would wave to each other as they passed which in turn strengthened the bond between bikers who were at that time being outcast in society as renagade, law breaking thugs. Which by the way is very hard to even type, much less consider. Now a days, this thinking has almost disappeared (thank god).

When i am driving, i don't wave, but rather keep my hands on the grips. It's a safety thing. WHen i am a passenger i always wave. I'm free to do so and it's completly safe that way.

I wave to everyone on two wheels. 95% of people around here wave back. The only time I see people not waving back is when they are in the midst of a maneuver or shifting/turning. Occasionally, you get a rider not doing these things who doesn't wave. Funny how they are always on Harleys...
