That was just a line I tossed in there. Hard factual evidence? No, haven't gone to hunt any down right now (I'm supposed to be working). However if I looked, I'm sure I could find that as a lot of cities have grown, the property tax revenues get spread too thin to maintain many "older areas" and so many times these areas tend to decline/get ignored, attacting people who cannot afford to move or live in newer areas supported by the "haves" (if you will). These same "haves" then bleat to the powers that be that they want more services, rec centres, parks, policing, fire stations...etc in their newer areas because they pay more in taxes and rub shoulders with the politicians. They are also the "nimby" criers who don't allow (in their opinions) anything built in "their" newer areas that would decrease the values of their properties or boo-hoo, attract more of the unwashed public to these elitist areas to live or play. (I suppose evidence would be historical tax $ revenues and increases compared to average cost of living, size of cities and population figures and where people live based on census, spending on urban fixed assets & their maintenance by area... Stats Canada has figures sorted like $income by postal code addresses so you can see which postal code areas in Canada earn the most or least... thinking like a bean counter now) Sorry, end of rant...-Holiday wrote:meh?
