You see??? This is the point sev and highside are getting at. If you don't get the mechanics of riding a bike, why did you get one so powerful??? Learning to ride a bike has a steep enough learning curve without throwing in 160hp to f##K things up.VermilionX wrote:im scared bec i don't trust my tires. but looks like my tires are good enough as zoo pointed out, just need to warm it up.
will riding about 15 miles be enough to warm up the tires?
what's the best way to remove the fear of fast cornering?

and about the 160hp or should i say 178hp... that's listed @ 12k rpm
i haven't even went over 6k rpm... i'll try it though once i get my 1st maintenance, im near it, only need about 100 miles to reach 600.
then my limit will be 9K rpm until i get past 1000 miles, then it's all good after the 1st 1000.
so yeah, i don't need 178hp to push me around street corners.

Hey, he's got the bike already so the naysayers in the peanut gallery are hootin' and hollerin' over a moot point. If one of you has a Ninja 250 to loan him so you can sleep better at night then have at it, otherwise just field his questions or accept the fact that he didn't follow TMW protocol like 99% of the bikers on the road.

I wish you could understand how bad that sounds.
I don't really mean to rag on you so much, it's just. I don't want to see you getting hurt. Accidents suck, and with your bike, and your level of experience, I don't really like your chances of avoiding something bad that may happen.
I personally am not an amazing rider. I'm not even a great one, I'm a competant rider, with what I like to believe is a good understanding of the fundamentals of the sport.
I've had the chance to test ride your bike. Test ride meaning I get to follow a guy around the parking lot at 10km/h while he led the rest of the people there on a ride. I chose not to because I understood that I was not capable of riding that bike.
Even now, it isn't something I would want to try. My bike only puts out about 87hp at the rear wheel, and it goes faster, accelerates harder, and looks better then anything I'll ever need. I think somewhere down the road I might get a touring bike, or I might get a dirtbike, but the fact remains that I cannot come up with a good reason to own the bike you have. Even if I won the lottery I wouldn't own that bike.
Based on a lot of your statements in this thread and many others I think that you don't know enough about riding to be on that Gixxer. I'm sorry, it's rude, it's hurtfull, but it's the truth. I'd rather hurt your feelings then hear about your crash. Get yourself a nice ninja for a couple of months, put this one in the garage. You can't hurt the engine anymore then you already did, just make sure to stablize the gas. And learn to ride the right way.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Much of a muchness, do you have 'pockets' at the knees and hips of your jeans on the inside?VermilionX wrote:i have draggin jeans not joe jocket jeans. when i looked at their CE armor, it has velcro on it... my jeans doesn't have velcro on the knees, it only has kevlar.
and i can take corners fine at speed limit speeds. but when on speed limit speeds, i don't lean much.
Mine do and the 'Hiprotec' armour clips to that. Not all CE armour is on velcro.
So anyway, what you are saying is that you take corners on a perfect line and its only when you are significantly speeding on city streets that you are having a problem?

not perfect, but good enough to avoid moving over the other lane.Kal wrote: Much of a muchness, do you have 'pockets' at the knees and hips of your jeans on the inside?

i know that if i take it faster, i need to lean more, problem is i wasn't confident that my tires will hold. but now, i know they're good enough after warmed up.
i guess you'll say keep practicing taking it slow until i get a near perfect line? i'll do that.

if we're both going 50mph... it doesn't really matter that my bike is more powerful than yours. only difference is that im using less throttle and probably lower rpm.
my bike is only as powerful as i let it be... so far, it hasn't even gotten past 6K rpm, i dunno what HP it has at that point, im usually in the 4K rpm range when im cruising.
im only following the normal break in, it's too late for me to mototune it. and i dunno how reliable mototune is anyway.
also, i have a suzuki extended warranty, gap insurance and full coverage insurance on my bike.

I'm just curious, but why would you think your stock tires would not be able to handle the leans?
Edit- lol I accidently put stick tires instead of stock

plus, my tires have a lot of chicken strips since it's my 1st bike and i haven't lean 45º yet.
