Wednesday, for the first time in three years I contemplated the purchase of a new motorcycle. I was very close to sitting down with one of the salesmen from work and attempting to work out a deal on a Kawasaki ZXR6 in red. The only thing that stopped me was the fact I didn't get a lunch break that day. Next time might be different.



I would like to pretend that I've taken my bike to it's limits... hAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I've not even come close. But at the same time I feel like I would like to experience a different type of riding. My first bike ever was a cruiser, I switched to a standard* (style) with the upright seating position. And at this point in my life I feel that a sportbike would be the natural progression in both my riding style and goals... partially. Ideally I would have two bikes, a sport tourer, and a sport bike. But sadly I am not made of money, and am forced to choose. And I would rather adapt a sportbike to touring then vice versa.

A couple of months ago the Daytona 675 would have been my dream bike, but I find myself drawn more and more to the ZX-6. Lighter weight, lower seat, narrower body, more comfortable to sit on, better suited to my ergonomics. It's starting to get into my blood. I don't really know what to think right now to be honest.

I've been criticized by some friends and co-workers for not wanting the ZX10R. But too be honest I would rather have the 600. Sure, it doesn't have the same straight line power, but above 230km I start to rethink my life goals. And I'm more interested in getting around a corner faster then powering down a straight. Lighter weight and a shorter wheelbase will likely aid this. All in all, I think that by the start of next season this blog will be archived in favour of a Kawasaki branded one.

I'm reserving the title. "So I Ride A Cliche."

Almost at 31000km on the bike now...

The paint guy at work figured I had maybe 8000 because the bike looked to be in such good shape ! Haha, sweet.

I had some catching up to do in your blog. It was a great read.

Any more winter in July riding and you'll need to invest in an electric vest.

31725km. Thirtyone thousand seven hundred twenty five kilometers. That's what the odo said the day we parted ways. That's what the odo said the day I said goodbye. This is the bike that got me through the worst breakup I've ever been through. This is the bike that held my hand through my first track day. This is the bike that taught me more about riding then I ever imagined possible. This is the bike that saved my life, and today we said goodbye.

Today I traded in my Honda 599, my Hornet for a brand new 2007 ZX6-R. And as such I'm retiring this blog.

I looked at your other blog. The new bike is ve-r-r-r-y pretty. You'll need some nice new gear to coordinate with it.

Congrats on the new bike, Sev. Since you're someone who actually travels on his bike, I'll be interested to see how the ZX-6 works out on the road trips. Personally, I think the 599 is an excellent balance for someone that likes to do both road and track riding. On the plus side, I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised at the track.
