I know that when I have to scroll near the bottom of the page, I have been away from writing for too long. It's just that with me not being able to do anything, I have had nothing to write about.

I'm sure people aren't interested in reading about my latest bus ride to the physiotherapist, or my daily walk to the grocery store or library.

Seriously, I haven't been able to do much at all. The healing process is progressing...albeit slowly.

I was getting cabin fever, so I went to visit a friend in Victoria. For those that are unfamiliar with BC, Victoria is on Vancouver Island which means a ferry ride. I can't ride yet, and being on a medical income right now, I can't afford to insure my car....(oops...I mean cage... ).

So, I took transit. It was a 2 hour trip to get to the ferry, then a 1-1/2 hour ferry ride, then another hour to my friend's place.
I think I shaved 30 minutes off the return trip home today though.

I met up with our very own old-and-slow who treated me to lunch and took me for a little scenic drive to a few spots.

Here we are standing on the breakwater that is by Dallas Drive (the scenic route around Victoria where you will also go by Beacon Hill park and the Mile 0 sign of the Trans Canada hwy).
Note to self....take everything out of your pockets for pictures next time.



I wasn't just playing tourist....I had motorcycles on my mind, too.



I will sort through my pictures and post a few more later.

It was power wash day in the parking garage today. All vehicles were supposed to be moved out.
So-o-o-o, early this morning, I dressed in my riding pants, gloves and helmet to make my first attempt since my accident.

I was hoping that I could get my bike outside to avoid the high power water from the pressure washer....(It looks like a mini zamboni)

I sat on the bike and could lift it to straight upright with my legs and hips but when I tuned the handlebars to straight, I could feel the strain on my right side. My shoulder wasn't very happy about this either.

The bike started easily... . I let it warm up and then put it in gear for a slow ride through the garage. I saw the caretaker and told her I was taking a big risk.....
I rode to the end and then up to the next level...I even managed a u-turn...but it was too much for my still weak and aching side and shoulder. The power wash guys said they would just take care to go around my bike.
So, I parked it back in the space in front of my car and came back in feeling deflated.

I will try again in another week. If I can't ride yet, I hope I will at least be able to ride by the August long weekend. I registered and paid for the Cruise-In in Kamloops. I call that positive thinking.

Seriously, how's therapy doing? Maybe you don't think you're making any progress, but I betcha couldn't have done this much 4 weeks ago.

Mrs. Stark's banned from riding at the moment - she finally went to the doctor for her thumb she dislocated 4 weeks ago. It's her right hand, she's been told no riding under threat of surgery needed for permanently damaged tendons.

You're right. 4 weeks ago I wouldn't have even considered trying my bike. So far therapy isn't very intense. I have a few small exercises to do and the therapist tries to massage out the knotted lumps of muscle out of my shoulder and give me traction....but it's slow.

The therapist seems to think I am on track. It will probably be another month, though, before I can go back to work.

It's a Smacktard story. Really! But it's not the pup's fault ... (for once!) She was playing with him, she reached for his toy just as he pulled his head back - caught her thumb with his head, bent it backwards.

We're waiting for the report from the MRI. She might end up with a brace on her thumb for a while. At worst, she could need surgery to repair the tendon.

Sorry to hear that JS. Best wishes to your wife. I hope the thumb heals well.

I got bitten by my own dog about eight years ago when I was trying to break up a dog fight. Fribs, my Jack Russell, was trying to bite back at his Alsatian attacker but bit the base of my thumb instead. He was sooo guilty later when he saw the blood. He knew and understood. The look in his eyes said it all.

I hope it doesn't affect your relationship with the pup.
