Just for the record, once you ruin your credit and run out of money the interest companies start taking your stuff. TV, videogames, weapons, anything of value.
You can sell all that off and declare bankruptcy, but from then on, you cannot own anything nice at all. You'll never get another bike, and if you end up back in debt again... they'll take everything you own and laugh about it.
All they care about is making money, and you're making it way to easy for them.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Not anymore. I forget the specific numbers, but the primary form of bankruptcy now (thanks to congress) requires you to continue to pay off a percentage of your debts even after you file.Sevulturus wrote:Just for the record, once you ruin your credit and run out of money the interest companies start taking your stuff. Declaring and having your whole debts wiped clean is next to impossible. The credit card companies did it to themselves, they extended lines of credit to people to who couldnt afford it, tacked on huge interest rates to high risk customers, and then complained when so many people were defaulting when they couldnt pay. Duh.

Dude I think you need to laid! Take a couple of hundred go get yourself a hot lookin Valley hooker/popcorn star and spank it HARD! You'll have a much better outlook afterwards. Besides, if you blow your wad on a crap car and a bike so you have some bling factor, no lady will get with you if you can't afford a room at the Motel 6 and a #3 value meal bro.

Beer. Helping ugly people get laid since 1853

i'm not rich, so im not going to pretend to know whats best for you to do with your money, but i do think you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself. i have to buy a car today, and a bike, and get a new job.... just chill. think of all the different stuff you have going on in your life as tennis balls. you have to hold on to all those things to keep your life from falling apart. you can hold, 1, 2, maybe 3 tennis balls, but many more than that and they are falling all over the place. pick a few important tennis balls and focus on them for now.
[award for weirdest analogy]
good luck whatever you do. you know the people here secretly like you and want to see you be sucessful.

Hey Verm, I think I know where you are coming from on the whole 'i don't want no bike, unless its a freaking new gixxer600' I think we've all had times like that, when nothing else was good enough. maybe it's a little bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder in all of us(some more than others). I've had weak moments like that as well when I was younger, and it almost always ends very badly. I have the wife to keep me in check from making crazy, rash choices that lead to certain financial destruction now... I think you need someone to give to the checks and balances, and make sure your purchases are not based on some crazy image in your head of a superhero standing next to his gixxer, scarf blowing in the wind with a sunset in the background, and a smokin hot woman hanging off his arm. You're an adult now and have lots of responsibilities. I think the riders here at TMW can give you those checks an balances, if you take them with a grain of salt. You get a wide variety of responses, but I think as a whole there are some very wise people here who have been there, done that, and have your best interests in mind.
Financing anything unless you absolutely have to(i.e. house), is a bad idea. The last thing you should be doing is gathering more debt, when you are young, and building your equity. It wouldn't be all THAT repulsive to get an '03 gsxr600 or somthing similar that you could pay off quickly, would it? I mean, that is still a 'way over the top' bike for most of us, but it would save you a TON of hassle later on, plus you'd have more peace of mind knowing you OWN the bike. As for the car, sounds like trouble. You don't need the hassle that a car like that brings. the further from stock that car is, the more trouble it will be to fix down the road. You shouldn't be seeing value in the mods, a dealer would reduce the trade-in value significantly BECAUSE of the mods... And no one will buy a '95 civic from you for nearly as much as you are willing to pay! Get a cheap old pickup truck to carry your bike to track days:)
anyway, that's just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide on bro!
