Yes, let's talk about it some more, shall we?! While we're at it, let's not forget that "the rotten apple spoils the bunch" applies to every aspect of human life on this planet, not just motorcycling, and that whining about it has not and will not change anything. There will always be someone around to screw up your good time, there's just no way around it. But encouraging the police to be any more overbearing than they already are is hardly a trade-off. Define your circle of influence and focus on those things that are inside of it. Everything else is a fool's pursuit.

How does this relate to this thread you ask? You live in Maryland. This road is in Georgia. It's not your cross to bear in the first place, and everyone knows that news folks like to sensationalize everything, this being no exception. So, the very title of the thread was a dead giveaway for your motives, and a closer look at the post itself and your lack of actual insight towards the "problem" is further reinforcement. I can't help it if no one else is astute enough to see it, but you've proven time and time again why you come here instead of being exclusive to the Beemer forums so you're relatively transparent in my eyes.

And I suppose you feel that there are no roads in MD that might have a similar problem? How would you know? There may not be a Loop like outside Atlanta, but there are sufficient twisties that it is a problem in some areas.

If you've got an opinion regarding bikes going too fast and out of control on twisty public roads, then state it, otherwise step back and shut up.

Ok, interesting thread. I think this one video report of an area in Georgia is representative of pretty much the whole US. In every area there are bikers. Like us, those bikers want to go out for a ride. They talk about the best roads in the area and hit them up every weekend or when they can get out there. The only problem is, some are doing stupid, and often illegal "poo poo" that gets them or other bikers and vehicles into trouble. The trouble-makers are the trouble-makers, plain and simple.

I think the report, while trying to stay "fair" really cracked on the sportbikes. I would have liked to see that aspect be a non-issue.

Verm seems to be spooling over this because I think he is (if he was there) one of those riders in question. Fact is, crossing double yellows (or even single yellow without dots) is illegal. Speeding is illegal. Yea, they are small infractions like that trooper said, but they all add up to make a big ball of "poo poo".


Someone mentioned closing the roads for a time so bikers can make a run. While I think it'd be fun, I still see accidents being an issue. Sure the complains will receed for a bit but I think get enough folks out there at one time cramming in rides and maybe racing and wagering (like you know would end up happening), there'd still be problems with "people getting killed". Emergency services and those kinds of resources would still be taxed. I imagine that may be an issue that doesn't sit right with somebody in the little towns. Again, I think that idea of a specific bikes only time would be fun, but new problems would arise.


Catching these guys...well, I like the speed camera idea. Instead of trying to catch them all on the road, just run a warrant and pick up the bike later. And don't tip them off either, but just show up at their house with an LEO and a flatbed. Or you could send them enough speed camera tickets that after a few their license gets revoked and the bike gets impounded. I don't know, just taking stabs.

err no... i don't pass on blind corners like i already mentioned earlier.

and i tail slower vehicles and pick my spots to pass if they don't let me pass. i don't blow pass by them from a mile away.
