New to this forum. Been riding since I was about 12. I had mini-bikes and a Sears Allstate that I delivered papers on when I was about 15. Honda 450 in high school (wrecked it being stupid). I bought a Suzuki 1000GS in 1981 and the wife and I rode it from Illinois to New Jersey, Illinois to Oklahoma (froze my azz off on that trip) I traded the Suzuki in on my youngest daughter and was without a bike for a long time. 2 years ago I bought a 98 1200 Sportster, I have enjoyed it a bunch but the wife was just not comfortable on the back. So about a month ago I bought a '96 Heritage Softtail Classic. I like everything about this bike. It is stunning to look at and it rides great.
*** side story*** I got a good deal on the '96 (so I thought) 2 weeks after I bought it, the oil light comes on. I am not a mechanic but I know THAT'S not good. Long story short = I just today picked up the bike after a refurbished motor was installed at the local Harley shop. So I added 3 grand to the bargain price I got but I now have a basically new bike for way less than a new bike would cost. The wife and I rode about 125 miles today just to get used to it.
