I am a strong supporter for Ron Paul and have been since he first mentioned his run for presidential candicy and even became a delegate for my state and went to the state convention to support him. Even after the media completely ignored him I still supported him (mainly because I ignore the media and do my own research). I am not voting for the lesser of two evils, I will vote third party this election.

I don't care if you say "you're wasting your vote, you may as well not vote." This is the exact thinking that got us into this state of mind. Who said there have to only be two candidates? It didn't start this way in the history of our country's elections.

Obama is not for change. McCain will not fix any problems.

Neither of them will fix anything unfortunately. The entire system is jacked up. Our reps in Congress continually leave their citizens out in the cold while continuing to nurture and feed their elitist machine. The think and operate in a vacuum. They don't speak for our best interest as we sent them to Washington to do. Every elected official is guilty. No one listens to their people anymore, the latest piece of proof is signing the bailout. Even the ones who KNEW it was wrong still signed it. They should all be sent home.

Where it all starts is voting in your local elections. You know, the ballot that has these names on them and you don't know who the hell they are? That's them. This failure in Washington is from a failure in our states. Unfortunately the majority of citizens including myself are less than informed about stat politics than they are about national politics. And that is scary.

Shorts, you still in Japan? Gonna absentee vote from there? How does it work from out of country? I know how it works out of state, is it similar?

Oh, for those who cannot/do not watch Youtube, here are the main points of that video:

In Ron Paul's press conference he made three major points:

1.) A large number of people do not want a McCain or Obama presidency - collectively we are a political force, 2.) All four of his suggested third party candidates have 4 positions in common:

* bring the U.S. troops home
* protect our civil liberties
* investigate the Federal Reserve
* balance the federal budget

3.) the two party system is corrupt, limits the choices of the American people and must come to an end..

Yup, still in Japan. Military stationed overseas votes through absentee voting.

What happens is we have to still register to vote through our home state via online site. Our home county mails us our voter reg card along with ballots. We have to vote, sign seal and return with a statement of residence.



I have read a little about 3rd party. I'm interested in their positions, though 1) they seem to push only in the last couple months of a major election year or 2) they have a goof as their primary public voice. They can't get all the pieces together at the same time. Or they do one big boned-headed thing that shoots down the credibility they have built up. They are really underdogs in the task they're undertaking to become a larger party. I respect that. Overall, they need a good long term program plan to tackle the challenges one by one. It has to be a long term effort to get to status once and for all or else they'll continue this 'bottle rocket' cycle. And definitely this is where the importance of local and state politics really matters.
