Do what you want...but just so your making a sound choice on its merits...

the weight is perfectly balanced
the noise is intentional, they make quiet pipes
the vibration is sadly nonexistant these days
chrome is an option

Then I must have been hallucinating when I put 320 miles on a Fat Bob over Christmas and found that it shook so bad that cars in the mirror were just colored blobs, and that I was utterly exhausted after a 200 mile ride.

Compared to my Sporty, the Fatbob feels smooth and vibration free. You must be riding some pretty smooth rides if you think the bob vibrates hard. I think I could ride for hours and hours on the bob and feel fine...the sporty's another story though...six hours, and I need a nice long rest.

To be fair....IIRC, RockBottom rode it on South Carolina roads ...I have friends with BMWs who have the same problem when they ride to my house. (Lots of Live Oak roots find their way under road pavement; if it isn't tree roots under, it's asphalt crumbling on the surface)

I would agree that the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob is much smoother than some other Harley-Davidson bikes, not too smooth where you can't feel it, you sure can, but much smoother than say the Dyan Wide Glide where at idle you can watch the handlebar dance 1/2" up and down.

Much different sort of vibration on a H-D vs other engine types.

Boss, why'd you have to go and dig up these old threads? Let them die.

Harley's are supposed to vibrate and make noise. Noise = smiles, that's why harley owners are so happpy everyone knows that.
